She's got no recollection of arriving here, nor any idea why she'd want to. The party schtick went out with Jimmy Stones and her magically disappearing bank account. There must have been a good reason, her mind assures her, she just can't remember it. That should be more disturbing than it is.

As it is, she's more concerned with maneuvering through the writhing mass of teenage hormones without getting mauled than she is figuring out why she's doing it in the first place. Once she actually breaks free to a slightly quieter part of the house, her attention is grabbed by what looks to be a kindred soul. After only a few moment's consideration, she makes her way over to lean against the wall next to the stairs and offer a small smile. "Gettin' a breather?"

Some of the other party-goers clearly have no taste. Or just don't get at alcohol often. The advantage of being both rebel and dreamer enough to drop out of school to marry a would-be rocker is that she's worked all that out of her system already. As one does when the consequences drop on your doorstep.

She laughs. "I dunno, it's pertinent with all the stomping and spilling going on right now? And cos sitting on this step would be nicer if it had plush carpet on it, too."

"I suppose it would, yes." He gave her an odd little half-shrug. "Should I take it you'd rather find somewhere else to sit, then?" Erk's sense of humor wasn't always short on self-deprecation, but he wasn't the type to assume or even pretend to assume that wanting to move meant wanting to move away from him.

"Honestly, I'm alright here. There's no one stepping on me feet and almost dumping cups all over me." She really isn't sure where else she could go anyway. Most of the good spots are probable taken right now by the party-goers anyway.

"Mm, fair enough. Well, as long as you don't have a problem with it, I'll be fine." He gave that odd one-shouldered half-shrug of his again, sipping from his probably-not-spiked drink.

"Nope, I'm fine here. Can keep an eye on all the party animals from here without getting trampled." She knows better than to trust a drink is 'probably not' spiked. She's had some experiences with those before. "Brewing any plans for kidnapping some of them for clean up?"

Well, if it was spiked, he wasn't feeling the effects yet, at least. "Not so far. I think it depends on how many of them are still coherent by the time things start winding down."

Which is probably best. The fast acting ones do tend to hit pretty hard. "Which...depends on how long it takes before things start winding down. Where's 101 Ways To Make A Snoozer when y'could use it?"

He sighed, absently stretching his arms above his head. "I'll manage somehow and chew them out later, I promise. It's not exactly a matter of life and death - my parents are gone for the weekend."

"Ah." She points at him, grinning. "You shouldn't have said that. That's what they always say before the parents show up bright and early two days early."

"Well, yes, but at least they'll believe it's not my fault. I'm afraid I'm a bit of a pushover," he admitted, grinning sheepishly.

She shrugs and offers a bit of a smile at that. "As long as I haven't got to deal with the spaghetti stains, I'll even be your witness if y'needed."

"Thanks." He was silent for a moment, apparently thinking. Then, he asked, "So how did you end up at this party, anyway?"

"I'm...really not sure." She purses her lips and squints out at the group of teenagers in the other room. "Just sort of remember...showing up here. I can't remember why I'd have come, though. Not really into the party scene."

"Really?" He looked at her with a concerned frown. That really didn't sound like a good sign. "Are you sure you're alright, Rose?"

"Pretty sure, yeah. It's not like I blacked out, if that's what you're asking...it's just...sort've a blur." She's thoughtful for a few moments, before she shrugs it off. "Like a poorly thought out impulse when you're a bit tired?"
