It didn't seem normal to Junpei that he would be this drowsy and exhausted as he sat inside the SUV, with Clover positively trying to murder everyone with her horrendous driving. That feeling washed over him gradually and he soon found himself leaning against the window, his consciousness slowly but surely leaving him despite all of his attempts to

That time had come sooner than she had expected, as she groaned on feeling herself being shaken wildly. Eyes bleary and head spinning, she tried her best to focus as she slowly became aware of a face near hers.
"What the..." she mumbled, struggling to sit up and figure out what exactly was going on.

Perhaps the girl knew something about this room that he didn't, although the chance of that happening was extremely unlikely. From her mumbles, she seemed as lost as he was.
"Oh, you're awake. Mr. B-Ladder says hi! Aha ahahahaha." Junpei chuckled, trying to ease the tension with a lousy joke.

"Okay..." she managed, before pulling herself to her feet. "I don't suppose you know how I got here do you?" she enquired. There was the obvious answer to that question, but she figured it was best to ask anyway.

"Nope. I just got here myself." Junpei chuckled, "Looks like we're in this together then, lady." Yep, the answer was kinda... obvious. Well, since he wouldn't get anywhere by just searching aimlessly, he decided to sit down on one of the blank mattresses and discuss a way out with this lady.

Confused.
She's always been so sure of herself--of the Nonary Game and of the outcome. She'd always been positive that this was the end, that after her life was saved, that would be it. She planned to never meet any of them again--Junpei would surely convince her that she's a good person, Seven would undoubtedly arrest her, Snake and Clover would make her go on a complete guilt trip, and Lotus...
Well, she's scary anyway.
Maybe this was payback for all that she did. Maybe someone, somewhere, was watching and decided she needed a taste of her own medicine. Even though she and Aoi were so so careful about everything--
Maybe they messed up.
And so, when Junpei shakes her into consciousness, there's a brief moment of confusion--a brief moment of loss--before it all clicks.
She shouldn't be here.
She shouldn't see him.
They shouldn't be together.
Akane pushes against him, slamming her back against the cupboard. Her eyes are wild, scared.
They couldn't be together."J

Akane loves Junpei.
Seeing him again--seeing him crying like this--how... how could she refuse him? The man she loves, the person who saved her life... didn't it mean anything? Didn't she owe it to him? Didn't she owe everything to him?
It was that kind of thinking she needed to avoid.
Maybe on some level, it's right. Maybe she should spend the rest of her life making it up to him. But on the flip side... wouldn't being around him reward her? And reward her for what? For risking the lives of five people, and actually killing others?
Happiness was the last thing she deserved. Junpei was the last thing she deserved.
"Jumpy..." She's tempted to reach out and wipe his tears, but she knows she can't. She can't.
"I gotta go."

Why was Akane so cold to him? Even if she didn't return his feelings, Junpei didn't mind that at all. All he wanted was to see her being blissful and leading a life full of happiness, with him being a friend to her. He didn't mind her past one bit. Even if she did indirectly cause the death of a few...
Junpei still loved her.
"Am I that detestable, Kanny? You don't have to keep running away from me. In my mind, you're still the same girl that I knew back in school. You're still the one who is..."
Junpei paused for a bit, holding Akane's hand gently.
"...Dearest to me above all else."
