If she was being perfectly honest with herself, she could not possibly formulate a reason for how and why she had gotten herself into her current predicament

If she was letting any ounce of awkwardness effect her, it was well-concealed beneath a calm exterior and what one could only call a pokerface. The situation in itself was beyond wrong, crossing every border of friendship and respect into unknown, uncharted territory

The declaration caused her to stop in the midst of evaluating cards, glancing over her hand at him with an expression that was far too innocent for a young woman indulging in a game such as strip poker. His anxiety was clearly placed on display, and even someone as empathetic as Minako need not tap into her ability to decode others like an open book when the evidence is far too prominent.
Of course, a small flash of disappointment floated over her features. It wasn't warranted, but it couldn't be helped. After all, they were only having a bit of harmless fun, right?
"If you want to," she answered back evenly, head cocked to the side as she studied his face. The last thing she wished to do was push him into an uneasy situation, especially when he seemed so eager to evade one.
*so feeding her favourite pairing with this* >x>;;thesecretchefJanuary 26 2011, 17:33:40 UTC
"You just can't read a decent poker face," Shinjiro retorted, glancing over the cards in annoyance. It wasn't that it was a bad hand, far from it. A full house with 3 jacks high was pretty hard to beat. But, he was more bothered by the fact that Minako had, again, forced her way into his room. Sometimes, he couldn't help but think that she was a lot more trouble than she was worth.
But, as long as she was having fun... And it was hard not to want the jacket off, considering what happened the last time she came in there. The thought made him blush a little but otherwise he remained calm, "The bow comes off the next time you lose. What're you makin' me wager?"
I have no shame admitting it's my favourite too :3sociallinkingJanuary 26 2011, 20:07:30 UTC
The jab at her skills in poker earned him a pout, eyes narrowing down at her cards - which were shockingly decent in the form of a straight flush. The irateness etched into his expression was clearer than crystal to her but, considering it was the typical expression he wore on a daily basis, it hardly unnerved her. Honestly, he should have been able to predict she would find a method of worming her way into his room, just as she'd found a way to disintegrate some of the inner barriers he had constructed.
She placed her index finger to her chin, seemingly in deep thought before a devious smirk appeared on her features. "The beanie," she demanded coolly.
"Fine. Let's see whatcha got," He glanced up at her then, not sure if she was going to fold or not. Although, it was a long time since he took off the hat for a reason other than showering... Why was he suddenly worried about hat hair? It wasn't anything new.
Even after all that happened, it was hard not to feel slightly awkward around her. Especially if Minako was going to look cute and pout at him like that.
The compliance with her order shocked her for the briefest of seconds. That beanie never seemed to leave his head for mysterious reasons, but she wasn't about to complain about potentially viewing him without the treasured accessory. Any shock that was still presented on her face transitioned into a lopsided grin, one that exuded both goofiness and a sense of confidence.
"Beat that," she declared, revealing her cards to be a straight flush consisting of a queen, jack, ten, nine, and eight.
Yukari sighed a little not at the comment, but at her hand. She had... nothing at all, really. A queen, but nothing to pair it with. "No need to be a sore loser, Minako." Her joking tone was obvious, and she tried not to frown at the bad hand. It was a friendly game, after all. Even if she was still slightly boggled at the stripping part of it. How had it come to this? She wasn't quite sure, but the drink sitting on the table probably had something to do with it.
"Just for the record, does my earring count? I think it should." Still joking. She was just as insecure about this as Minako, really, but they were two girls who had been friends for ages, and she was comfortable around her. Not to mention they'd seen each other in just a towel before, so it's not like this was that big of a leap forward. Right? Right.
It was only fair that Minako would have some streak of luck, after fate had continuously punished her with terrible hand after terrible hand. It was a mere three of a kind, but surely, it was better than the constant pair she had been acquiring over the course of the game. Yukari's comment received a chuckle, albeit a nervous one at that. However, her pokerface continued to make its presence known, refusing to allow her to reveal any weaknesses.
"If you want it to count," she responded with a carefree shrug, even if Yukari was clearly jesting in order to alleviate the uneasy atmosphere.
"Eh, I won't. It's only fair, since you have your jacket off." She said, a bit hesitantly. She didn't exactly want to get naked quicker, but it was fair. The atmosphere was definitely strange. They were friends, yes, but there was a weird nature to all of this. Well, it's not like Minako was trying to get her naked.
... Then again, she kind of was, wasn't she? That thought was immediately struck down with a lot of guilt. Minako was the nicest person she'd ever met, she wouldn't do anything like that. Besides, strip poker had been her own idea. Kinda. She revealed her hand by setting it down on the table, figuring that maybe Minako's bad luck would continue. Hopefully. "This is all I've got." A completely random smattering of cards, with the Queen as the highest. "Guess my luck ran out, huh?" She said, smiling to try and help remove the atmosphere.
"Only if you're sure." Disrobing one of her best friends was far from her original intention. If anything, the agreement to indulge in a bit of strip poker was an innocent form of relaxation, considering how quickly exams had sucked the fun of out her fellow peers. Whatever the case, it was far too late to reverse what they'd started.
She put her best effort forth in suppressing a look of smugness as Yukari presented her lacking hand of cards, but to no avail as a slow grin spread across her lips, more exuberant at the fact that she had finally won rather than forcing Yukari to strip. "I win!" she declared dramatically, revealing the three Kings with a triumphant expression.
