She was whimpering. Crying, actually. Quietly, but trails of tears ran down her face before collecting under her chin and dripping into the pink, girlish nighty and the floral comforter she clutched to her chest. Honestly, by the time a girl was fifteen, you would think she wouldn't be scared of storms anymore. But the wrapping branches against her

She jumped a little, teeth worrying her lower lip and both arms wrapped protectivly across her chest and stomach. It helped that she hadn't seen her brother in a few years; it helped that she had been smaller when they had still lived together, and it certainly helped that he probably didn't have a lot of exposure to fifteen year old girls in war and couldn't judge that this behavior was far more babyish than most girls her age.
"I'm - I'm...scared," the brunette admitted sheepishly. "I hate storms... And - and I won't look or anything!"

"Doesn't the storm scare you as well?" she asked almost immediately.

Iku sat up in bed with a sigh, squinting her eyes to make out Minatsuki's figure in the door way. "... The lightning isn't that close." She could tell by the time between the noise and the flash. "Even if it was, the worst it can do to us inside is make the power flicker." She paused to let another boom of thunder sound. "Can't you go back to sleep?"

"I c - can't sleep, Iku," she moaned quietly. "I'm scared."

"Just... please don't mumble in your sleep, Minatsuki."

It was a good school Iku had; not to think about her sister.
Quietly, the brunette tip toed into the room, skillfully avoiding all the floorboards that squeaked before skillfully slipping into bed with her big sister and almost immediately curling up against her side. She whimpered quietly, pouting. And as her sister wished, she tried not to mumble anything - awake or asleep - but found her whole body hitching with silent (or quiet) sobs. And eventually couldn't contain it.
"Iku... I - I... Can you hold me? Like when we were l - little and I thought there were monsters under my bed?"

"Oh, I guess," he mumbled, only half-aware of what he was agreeing to.

Hugging him to her chest.
Between her breasts - abnormally well formed for her age.
"It's scary," Minatsuki cried mournfully.

He tried not to think about the situation; Minatsuki was really too old to be crawling in bed with him, especially when he was only a few years older, but he was having trouble with finding a way to explain this that didn't get her mad at him.

When the door began to creak open, she immediately switched off the flashlight and remained perfectly still. Had mother come home earlier than expected? That wasn't normal at all, and father... he probably didn't even have the key anymore. When was the last time they'd received a postcard from him? Curiosity got the best of her, and slowly she sat up to see her younger sister silhouetted eerily as lightning flashed through the window.
"Mina...? O-of course, come in."

She didn't give it too much thought, as it was storming and there was nothing she could do to change it. Ami held the covers open for Minatsuki to slide in and wrapped a protective arm around her when she was close. A smile spread across her lips when she kissed the top of the girl's head, and gently ran her fingers through her hair.
"I know. I didn't know we'd have one tonight, or I would have invited you to stay with me earlier," she whispered, pulling back so that Minatsuki could see her smile. "I'll look after you. You're safe here with me."

Those big brown eyes squeezed closed, determined to block out the sound and light from outside the house. Their bodies were rather close, and Minatsuki could hear Ami's heartbeat, which was at least a little comforting. But at her sisters words, she shook her head.
"I - I'm sorry, A - Ami. I'm a - acting like a total baby... It's pathetic, isn't it."
