How to Post
Updated February 11, 2008
Posting must follow the following guidelines:
- All posts will be in prose form. All prose will be THIRD person, PAST tense, from a single character's POV. If you play multiple characters, please post for each of them in a separate post, or maintain only ONE POV throughout the entire post.
If you're unclear on third person POV, here are some helpful links:
- Every new location/change of scene will take place as a new post
- Every new post and/or reply to a post will use the following format for the subject line:
[Charater Name] Whatever you want your fancy title to be
- Every new post will use the following as a header:
Who: The character originally beginning the post
Where: Location (ie, Medical Facility: Office)
When: Day, Time of Day (ie, Day 29, late evening)
Invited: Tagged characters, or characters the post is directed specifically at. If it's truly open to all, then use 'Everyone in Location' or 'Open'
Status: Complete or Incomplete (or Turn-Based, see #7)
- Redirects will only be necessary if you are starting a new thread due to length. If the action on your thread has concluded, a redirect is not necessary.
- If a Major Event ™ happens (these are sometimes referred to as GAME EVENTS, but are often just plot developments presented by another player) then there will be a Turn-Based-Play Rule in effect.
What this means is that every character present (or every invited character) may make one post until all characters have posted a reaction or twenty-fours have passed whichever comes first. Ideally the Original Poster who posts the event should put up a post in the_lifeboatooc to track whom has or has not responded.
In the case of a Major Event ™, the Invited section of the header should read 'ALL PLAY.' This is the only time that the ALL PLAY should be used.
