There was movement, around the labs, where there shouldn't be. And since Tok'ra didn't need as much downtime as Humans, Ron had let Lan take control while his mind slept

Sam was in the process of setting her coffee down and opening her laptop when the lab door opened. It didn't immediately register with her, until she heard the alien echo of her name -- her first name. Turning to see Captain Boone, zat in hand, certainly shook the last of the cobwebs from her mind. Her brows rose. As he corrected himself to use the rank she held when she'd first met the Tok'ra all those years ago, her head canted some. But, as the alienness fled from him, and he came to her right name, she gave a wry, somewhat cautious smile

The soft smile Ron offered as he holstered the Zat was apologetic. "Pulled guard duty, I'm afraid" He moved into the room, pausing as the scent of coffee reached him. And yawned.

"Sorry, been a long night, Lan... Varalan was patrolling for the last three hours, guess my body could use a break... Anything I can help you with?"

Now that he was here, memory held him and he had no wish to leave... just yet.

The man's yawn didn't so much startle Sam as it did move her to swift action. "Oh!" She gestured towards her thermos. "It's fresh. You want some?" Then, she paused a moment as her mind flipped thoughts as quickly as it ever had. "Unless, of course, you're headed off-duty. In which case, maybe the caffeine isn't such a good idea

Lan had been mostly a diplomat and explorer, but that didn't mean he hadn't any experience in science. "I don't" Ron said, "but Lan might..."

Ron fell silent, as Lan argued that he didn't exactly want to interact directly with Samantha. He wanted Ron to get up and leave. Just leave now. But Ron was adamant.

Lan raised his eyes and looked with a sad smile to Sam. "I was thinking, Doctor Carter, that the crystals we found on the beach may have had some refractive qualities. Is it possible that they could be used to enhance the UAV?"
