Sarah Connor--or "Suzanne Kreigler" as the denizens of Gamma World knew her--was in a good mood. She strolled through the marketplace with no particular destination, just enjoying the sights and sounds of the crowd around her. She did have some business to conduct this lovely Saturday morning, but she was in no hurry.

John would have been surprised by her good mood--if he were around to see it. But he'd been gone when she got up this morning. He'd left a note that he was going fishing and he'd see her later, which might mean this afternoon, this evening--or in a day or two. She'd raised him to be autonomous; she could hardly complain when he was. He'd been making himself scarce of late and Sarah really couldn't blame him. She'd been a bear lately.

Of course, that autonomy was the real source of the friction between them these days. He'd made a decision and she didn't like it. She really didn't like it. But done was done. The girl was pregnant. Marriage wasn't a foregone conclusion, but it was likely to follow. And that scared the ( ... )

James held a strawberry by it's stem and bit into it, then ate it. The strawberry was as sweet and delicious as he'd hoped. He was very happy to have purchased a large bowlful of them. He'd discovered them when he first came to earth--which seemed like such a long time ago now ( ... )

Maureen couldn't even wheedle initials out of Ami, nor a description beyond "male, fit, younger than 65," which pretty much covered every available single male on Gamma World. At the third booth, and the tenth time Ami danced neatly around the question without actually answering it, Maureen decided to back off. She didn't doubt that she would find out eventually, Maureen was tenacious that way, but it was time to change tactics and lull her roommate into a false sense of security ( ... )

"I don't think she told the whole market," Sarah said.

She recognized Dr. Ami Jackson, though she doubted that the woman knew her from Adam. Or Eve. Sarah had made it her business to learn the names and faces of all the authority figures on Gamma World--or their close friends and acquaintances. As a friend and (for a short time) lover of Daniel Jackson, Ami had qualified.

"I hope not," Ami said.

"Not more than half, tops," Sarah said with a sly smile and was pleased to see Ami Jackson give her an embarrassed smile, but a smile nonetheless. Sarah said, "I'm Suzanne Kriegler, by the way."

Kirsten tore her attention away from the soldier/horses in the hands of one lad, and looked up as the pair, Bobby and Darien, paused in front of her little piece of the market. It was an unassuming array, toys, carts and boats.. but one, in her opinion, that filled a rather important niche.. namely, food supply movement ( ... )

Bobby nodded and glanced up at the Jolly Haired Giant. "The lady has boats."

"So it seems." Darien turned to Kirsten. "I like fish. Sauteed in butter, a little fresh lemon."

Bobby rolled his eyes facetiously. "She meant the verb 'to fish,' ya idgit."

"Ohhhh," Darien played along. "Well then, no. Sorry."

"But I do," Bobby put in. He grinned at his audience. "Ya shoulda been there. Mono Lake, 1996. My buddy Frank and me got up at o-dark-thirty to get a good spot ( ... )

With the conversations regarding gate teams and training coming to the fore, and Sedge making her appearance with Dr. Weir following up shortly thereafter, Cassandra felt free to make her apologies before a brief departure. She touched Daniel's arm, turning towards him slightly to offer explanation. "Dr. Weir'll keep you from falling back into work, I'm sure. So... I leave you in her capable hands." She grinned at that. "Well... and Sedge's paws. I still have to pick something up for Stephanie as a 'thank you' for putting up with Jon." After all, her roommate was also slightly inconvenienced, even if it was simply because of the added bodies in the small living area ( ... )

They stayed in the general vicinity of the carts, though Alex didn't make a move in that direction, though he did occassionally pretend to be interested in the trinkets and craft pieces that caught Callie's eye more than once. Of course, the real trinket was standing across the way, surrounded by people Alex didn't know or didn't care about knowing and -

(Dr. Weir? Oh, come on, even I deserve some kind of break don't I?)

"You know, you might as well just walk over there and get shot down," Callie was saying. "Or, just ask Dr. Jackson if he'll give you an ass kicking by proxy."

"What?" Alex whipped around to look at her.

"You're drooling, Alex. And you're starting to give me that stalker vibe," Callie put down a hideously atrocious something carved of wood and decorated with hallucinogenic color patterns and shuddered a bit. "Reeks of desperation, and you're totally putting a downer on my day ( ... )

Chocolate was decidedly moved into the 'luxury' category now, though simple candies weren't. While cocoa was being grown, and harvested, the processing was a little longer than, say, the easy sugar candy. As Cassie looked to the tables and blankets of reminders of Earth, her gaze focused on the search for the 'home grown' version of coffee, she only caught some of what had been said just beside her, or rather, only then caught that there was someone next to her.

She startled, though not out of fear, but rather, simple surprise that anyone was there, her hand rising quite predictably towards the center of her chest, where her heart lay.
"I'm sorry?" Cassie had to blink to bring her around to focus on what was before her, though, to her credit, rather than creeping annoyance, a hint of a smile appeared.
"Um.. I didn't catch what you'd said, is all." For that, she looked briefly apologetic. Searching the general area, though not seemingly looking for anyone, she was just making sure that it was, perhaps, she that he was talking to ( ... )

"Paying her off?" Alex's grin was easy and friendly. He gave a disbelieving shake of his head, "You're trying to tell me that your the sort who does things that require paying off roommates?" She looked too sweet, too innocent for being the dangerous or troublesome type, but then looks could always be deceiving ( ... )

Even Elizabeth had to grin at Daniel's 'dog-talk'. There was, indeed, something humorous about the boyish greeting for the big white mutt. "Daniel," Elizabeth greeted him easily, hands clasped before her as she nodded her head. She added a smile for the others at the shipwright's stall. "Gentlemen. Ladies. Lovely day, isn't it?" She gave Cassie a grin as the younger woman took her leave. "Enjoy the market." If Elizabeth could handle Jack -- and she could -- she could definitely handle Daniel. Sam, too, for that matter. And John, and Rodney, and Raddek, and... She suppressed a chuckle. Yeah. She could handle them ( ... )
