Well, exactly - for certain very limited fields, that kind of thing works, but it's not going to work for me, and it's certainly not going to work for me if I don't retool myself from having an academic CV to having something that might to appeal to somebody I'd want to work with.
Well, classicists don't tend to check CV sites very much! What's more likely to work for me is e-mailing people I know and asking if they've got any supervising work. Outside of that, selling a humanities PhD is - well, quite a lot harder, really.
