The Kraus and Woodman may have been my idea because I read it for generals and have been recommending it to people pretty energetically since. I'm glad it worked out well for you.
You did indeed recommend it to me back in January, but from my response I think it had already made it onto the radar some other way. LJ, alas, does not hold the clue to this one - it might have turned up at some point in the survey work for chapter 4 as a useful thing to read But Not Right Now.
The idea of creating a self in the first place, of knowing what one's self looks like, is one I ran smack up against a couple of years ago with a vengeance, and have been working on ever since.
When you're genuinely interested, yes, go to Martindale. But start off with something a little lighter.
Yes, I agree. It's not an entry-level book (however much it pretends to be), but if you have any interest in reception you have to read it sooner or later.
