[House is outside of room 711, quietly attaching lengths of tape from door frame to door frame. He is working quickly and looks very serious, as though he's here to fix something that was broken, such as the decided lack of pranks on this door frame. He's thinking to himself how perfect it is that the door frames extend out two inches from the door

[The question that arises in everyone's mind ought to be, of course, why Snape didn't hear the movement outside his door. After all, you can only be so quiet, and then the rustling attracts attention. Of course, if you're trying to make yourself feel less embarrassed by the recent flood by watching all the videos that appeared on the network (and subsequently planning to troll their authors), you're less likely to hear tape being attached to your door.

The smoke, however, got his attention.

He was on his feet and out the door in a flash, operating under the assumption that (a) smoke was caused by fire and (b) he was no longer in school and pranks were something he'd left behind twenty years ago with his Hogwarts trunk.
