X-Men: First Class. Emma, Erik, Raven (and Sebastian). PG.

A/N: Title is taken from Charles Mingus' "The Black Saint and the Sinner Lady", recorded in 1963. The full title of the movement is "Of Love, Pain and Passioned Revolt, Then Farewell, My Beloved, 'til It's Freedom Day".

( Fear, she could identify with, but not this singular hatred that consumed reason and anything else that stood in its path. Erik's emotions had an intensity that was alien to her. )

Oooh I liked this a lot. The coolness of Emma's POV and the way she sees Erik. I love that you achieved two characterizations in one short piece.

Really like the phrasing of the last line. Smiled as if pleased. That's the White Queen for you.

Excellent job.

She would feel the magnitude of their dreams, like cool, dense stars made up of ambition and fury, pulling her in.

The distanced psychic, in contrast to Charles's touchy-feely style.

...why is this my only X-Men icon?

I am in love with Emma's ability to just not give a fuck, and the fact that she is so completely different to Charles, with no interest in other people's feelings except how it affects her.

I have no X-Men icon at all... Must remedy that asap.

perfect as an avalanche, because it envelops the reader in Emma's perspective.

(I was planning to use that analogy in an Inception fb, but the opportunity never arose - it fits your fic better)

thankfully, I forgot to remove the drysuit after my National Geographic marathon. :)
(keeps the wearer dry and warm even in the icy and deep waters off Seattle's coast)
