I was a bit iffy about Penelope Cruz (so many better Spanish-speaking actresses out there), but if McShane and Geoffrey Rush (*fingers crossed*) are in it, I'm hoping for the best.

Katee Sackhoff will star in a new ABC crime drama. The as-yet-untitled show centers on a beautiful female detective (Sackhoff) who teams with a disgraced ex-cop to solve crimes and untangle the conspiracy that sent him underground. (THR)

...that sounds like Life except with Dani Reese as the star.

Why, for once, can't we have a female disgraced ex-cop? We have In Plain Sight as living proof that it works.

At least this supposedly will center on HER, rather than her being the sidekick?

They'll say that...right up till they cast the ex-cop.

"Sometimes" disgraced? Heee :D

Dead Lagoon was a great one! Hard to lose, setting a drama in Venice :)

And . . . YES! Blackbeard! The character in the Tim Powers book was great.

Well, he does occasionally get lucky. In women, if nothing else. :)

I'm so glad that they're going to be filming it all in Italy - the location and atmosphere is such a major thing in the books. But it's going to be a bit disconcerting if half of the "Italian" characters are going around with British accents.

Depends on how you define "lucky" :D

When do we get some more original crime fiction from you? Or at least dig up your English creative pieces from that time in our school lives. :)

Never! :)

I remember one piece, ONE. Set in Shanghai. Which I never finished.
