How much of series Patrick Jane is a result of his trauma (losing his family), and how much was there before?

but yeah, based on the clip we saw of flashback-him at that tv set, even if that was just his public face*, I do not envy that family.

* = now his permanent face?

Did he perform tricks for her the way he does now for the rest of the team? Was she amused or exasperated by them?

* = now his permanent face?

I don't see that faux-seriousness from TV in him now.

she might've been the one person he *didn't* perform for -- a "leave work at work" sort of ethic that died when she did.

so, true, there's no more faux-seriousness...but he's like (s1) Crews - he might smile and flirt, but he's always trying to solve the Problem that reduced him to this. the only off-duty that Jane gets, is sleep.

Rather Tony Stark-ish of him, isn't it? ;)

I really wonder that too. Because even outside of his somewhat dubious morals, there's the way he has to not just BE the smartest guy in the room, but make sure everyone KNOWS he's the smartest guy in the room at all times. He gets off on twisting other people around, on proving he's smarter than you. I can see him probably trying to temper that around his family (I hope) but I don't think that's something he's capable of not doing. And being around that all the time... I just wonder.

You'd either be driven crazy by it, or be the kind of person who's grown used to it, or maybe someone who gives as good as she gets? TELL US SHOW.
