Judging by its pilot, TNT's Leverage is like any number of failed pilots of the last couple years to feature a team of professional criminals (Heist, Smith, etc.), except for two things: it stars Timothy Hutton, who beats Dougray Scott and Ray Liotta any day of the week; and it has an unexpected anti-corporate message. ( *spoilers* )

Robert Downey Jr. is in talks to star in a - wait for it - SCI-FI WESTERN called Cowboys & Aliens.

Be still, my heart! Hee!

In North America it's called Let Me In. Three points:
1) I've read it and it was one of the best novels I've read in quite a while; Salem's Lot crossed with Smilla's Sense of Snow;
2) This trailer looks EXACTLY as I imagined it while reading it;
3) I HOPE Abrams doesn't screw it up completely -- this reads "other" enough that someone from Hollywood may be compelled to "Americanize" it, which would ruin this completely, since its sense of time (it's set in the 80's) and place is so specific and strong.

I've seen the book over here, and it's kept the name. Changing it seems to me to be an odd decision when it's a reference to lyrics by Morrissey. I don't know if I want Abrams directing it, infusing it with his love of gadgetry and science - and one thing I don't think Abrams has ever been good at is creating a strong sense of place, of locality. I think I read somewhere that it's set a couple of decades in the past?

That review for "The Happening" is absolutely hilarious, killer-diller! A screenwriter friend of mine spoiled the story for me about a month ago so I already knew it was going to be crap, but it's bad enough to deserve this kind of evisceration. It bugs the crap out of me that Shyamalan keeps getting big paydays when there are so many other more worthy writers, directors and scripts out there.

The guy really needs a reality check. And actors need to stop working with him!

That was my first thought, too. But I don't think we can have too many sci-fi westerns. ;)

We have the two titles here. I got the trade paper back version of Let The Right One In, but I prefer Let Me In as the title. I hope the Swedish movie version comes out on DVD with subs. I'd rather watch this than a remake.

Wow Robert Downey Jr. is on a roll. Keep going the straight path and make us proud, dude!

And next he's in a movie by Joe Wright! Whose films are always so beautiful that they get iconned to death - so, YAY! More RDJ graphics!

*goes to rewatch Wonder Boys*
