MAYBE. OMG MAYBE Marcus was a prototype Terminator Skynet was testing in the work camps only Marcus was TOO HUMAN and GOT TOO ATTACHED TO KYLE and Skynet decided he had to be dumbed down that that's how we got Arnie.

OH MY GOD. I am so excited for this movie.

(Does it use T3 canon, or does it ignore it like SCC does? Please the latter, kthnx...)

I don't remember anyone saying one or the other. But seeing as there doesn't seem to be a Katherine Brewster in the picture, I would assume that it doesn't follow from T3.

All that said, McG is directing it. Which means the action will probably be great, but I don't know about the nuances.

My utter glee about BSG: Caprica and Terminator 4 (Christian Bale = John Connor ... *ponders* I'll see how I feel about this at the time) is trashed and overshadowed by the Dune news. The world DOES NOT NEED another Dune adap. We have two, and they're both bloody good. *tantrum* Seriously, Dune works best when the allegories are there for you to take but aren't shoved in your face to overshadow the story. I really don't want to see some 'symbolic' heavy-handed, over moralised version: I'll give it a chance before damning it, but after The Kingdom being what it was, I just can't see the Berg actually making the transition to a much more complex, deeper allegorical piece.

I'm not a fan of either the miniseries or the Lynch movie, but I agree that this is probably going to be a disaster. The whole big budget + potentially blow-up-in-your-face topical material makes it an idle fantasy, but I'd love it if someone like Sally Potter or Neil Jordan directed it. Some with a real appreciation for that exotic romanticism.
