This entire time I thought The Duchess was about Sarah Churchill and that biography written about her (which I hated, oh god), until I got confused as to the casting ('Ralph Fiennes what??') BUT OH, I SEE. Aren't these the Devonshires with the menage-a-trois?

LOL. The Spencer antecedents are so-- man. Much more interesting than the current ones.

How much I care about Keira Knightley is largely influenced by how much I care about her male co-star. So A+++ for Keira/McAvoy and AMEN for Keira/Ralph Fiennes. HOT.

(And Hayley Atwood, Dominic Cooper yay!)

So much word to that. Also Keira/Matthew Macfadyen FTW. She has such luck with her co-leads.

I just hope the it doesn't end up another gloomy biopic like Johnny Depp's Libertine. Yes, we know the story doesn't end happily, but does the film have to be quite such a stick in the mud?

Seems like it could be a bit Overly Serious, with lots of pouting from Keira, Ralph Fiennes being Tragic, Dominic Cooper being cheeky, and-- well, who knows about Hayley at this point.

I do think Keira needs to stop with the period dramas a bit -- but then again, her contemporary roles were kind of terrible. Though if she were to do a quirky sort of indie comedy a la Natalie Portman, that might be good.

There are worst things to be typecast as than the Spirited Woman Ahead of Her Time.

She was reasonably good in Love, Actually, I remember.

I am so torn about seeing this movie, I want to desperately, because I want to see Viggo and the story and yet David Cronenberg (love/hate relationship with this guy is massive) has always tested my ability to keep whatever was in my stomach, there. Dating back to The Fly, I still get queasy when I think of the acid spilling out of the fly's mouth on to that guys leg/foot. And freezers always make me break out into a sweat (saw Shallow Grave and for all my love of that movie it stills haunts me to think of the guy they left in that freezer) and there is definitely some kind of freezer in the trailer and Vincent Cassel scares me too. Torn completely torn.

As always thank you for all the information and links.

:) I'm the same way about well made zombie movies like 28 Days Later - my longstanding phobia of zombies always makes me shy away from seeing it, even though everybody tells me that I need to. I say take somebody with you when you go see it. That usually helps me.
