From one Hulk to another...

Rachel McAdams and Eric Bana will star in the adaptation of Audrey Niffenegger's bestselling novel, The Time Traveler's Wife, an unconventional and moving love story about Henry DeTamble (Bana), a young man with a genetic condition that causes him to involuntarily time-travel, and his wife Clare (McAdams). Eric Bana! This does not make mE terribly unhappy! Which is, honestly, what I expected to be, but you know how I feel about Henry. :)

That and wanting to be him. God. One of my favorite book characters ever.

I dunno. Like I said in my LJ, I've never seen Bana in anything that I've cared about, but there's something about him that makes me willing to take the chance. It's those eyes, simultaneously unflinching and compassionate. Honestly, I'm less worried about the actors individually than I am about their chemistry together. That is key. If they don't have the sparks, the entire project is doomed.

And omg, please join fortythirdyear so I can have additional smart people to help guard against the inevitable tide of BUT AUDREY SAID SHE WANTED ADRIEN BRODY OMG posts.

Adrien Brody? Yeah, I can see that.

I think I might have to do a Bana/McAdams picspam in that community, pronto.

On this, I've gotten to love the idea of her. I read the BOOK after finding out Rachel was thinking of being casted. This was back in mid 2006, I think. But, Eric Bana? Are we sure. I always though David Tennant. Because well, duh, he's Dr. Who...but no one else? No one?

Bana is apparently already signed on, whereas McAdams still in negotiating her contract (although her name has been attached, as you say, for ages). I think Bana has just been in such a string of duds lately (even Munich wasn't a role that gave him much room), it's hard to me to remember why I used to think he was an actor to look forward to. On the other hand, he was the one of the few believable, convincing things in Troy.

That's true. I remember him in Troy...because maybe only he gave a rather acceptable performance. And on that note, Rachel has great range and depth, I really want to see her do more comedies soon. Am I the only one who seriously can quote Mean Girls like a religious scholar the bible? Or loved that she was so amazing in a movie called WEDDING CRASHERS?

Or that hideous Sarah Jessica Parker vehicle called THE FAMILY STONE! Why, oh why, must good actors appear in such terrible films?
