Wonderful, powerful, heart-breaking. The last two lines summed up everything. (But I still need to know what you made of the scenes that followed, especially George saving Nicholas!)
Thank you, so much. I think I have to stop with all the painful stuff now though, at least for while, because this distressing over the relation-that-never-was can't be good for me. Of course, the remedy for that is:
GEORGE! My mind is still processing how awesome she was, and trying to fill in the time between her arrival, and what we saw. What did Nicholas tell her? The truth, the full truth? She certainly deserves it, for what she's doing for him. But what is the truth exactly? I like how the episode leaves the two of them because with the inquiry, and inevitable investigation, they'll have reason to spend time in one another's company. It's so full of possibility.
And that was brilliant, so satisfying. Nice turn, because Nicholas has been doing so much cleaning up for other people up to now. He deserves a little slack. And the look on his face: priceless.
Don't you just? I want to be able to tell him, No, it's not your fault. Not the pills, and not MacIntyre, either. There was nothing more you could have done. *hugs Nicholas*
I felt like they said, Hey, let's make her up so she looks completely shit and half-dead and oh-how-sad and maybe the audience won't notice that Kat can't act worth a damn. Because she really can't.
I liked the batty scene where Baltar goes completely messianic on us and dips his hand into the jelly hybrid's tank like he expected to pick up cylon data from it or something.

I just want to wrap Nicholas up in blankets and give him a big hug!!
So for the first time you said nothing. Not knowing then that he was already gone.
Only knowing that he never understood, and never would.
*hugs*

(I am averting my eyes from the fic, in case I end up watching the show.)

Otherwise, what a waste of an episode.

That's exactly it.
Lovely little ficlet. Nicely expresses that moment from his POV.
