As far as I'm concerned, it's just a matter of balancing your personal needs with the needs of others. I'll be nice to people when they're nice (or at least, nice enough that it doesn't put any strain on me), but there are also times when someone's being so obnoxious that I wish I could reach through the internet and smack them in the face. I usually do this in the form of scathing insults.

I don't think jealousy necessarily makes anyone a bad person. If it did, then I'd be horrible.

I try to avoid scathing insults, mostly because I'm terrible at them, but I do wish I could sit someone down and lecture them on the way the real world works and why their snippy little attitude would not fly in the presence of actual people. I also avoid physical violence :P

I don't think it does either, but it makes me feel awful and small and very unhappy to be jealous ):
