For all of us, "The Real You" is a moving point, dragged about daily by fate and circumstance, and we don't always notice it moving in units of time shorter than years. The real you today might be a bit more depressed or happy or content or tired or grumpy than the real you yesterday, or less.

One day a friend of mine was doing that long all-the-way-down-the-eastern-seaboard drive, and stopped at my place for a night to stay. We were talking that night and she really was on the notion of "Finding out who I really am"

my response was: You may be asking the wrong question. Who you really are? Easy, It's you, right now, warts and all, skills, talents, faults, confidences and insecurities and everything else. The question you ought to try asking is "Who is the person I WANT to be, and how do i GET there?" Because that's where effort needs to go, to get you where you want to be. That's more of a journey than a finish line, too, which is another place not to get snagged up.
