Note to Myself: Celedras Uses a Bow

Jul 09, 2006 00:57

Tonight was the second session of jamesbarrett's rebooted D&D campaign; this one was pretty much pure fight, fight, fight, as we made our way through the besieged paladins' citadel. Celedras got to do some fun acrobatic archery stunts fairly early on, but then when we got to the "main event" of the evening (arriving at it @ 10:45 p.m., which was unfortunate ( Read more... )

I knew that particular battle was going to be a doozy but hadn't realized what time it was when you all got to it. Once it began, there really wasn't any stopping it, but look at it this way, you cleared three rooms worth of trouble all at once. It can only get easier from here until you meet the boss.

Camstone should note that Baylor used all but 3 of his lay on hands ability and is down 23 hps. The good thing is, he can still smite away at full potential, should the occassion ever arise. :)

Remember I said I wasn't used to having so many abilities? I kept forgetting to add the extra damage for Point Blank Shot. D'Oh! Alas, Celedras is 20+ hp down now, so I imagine he'll be lobbying for a little cure moderate action himself. He does have two more potions on hand, but he doesn't want to use those unless he has to.

Also, we didn't figure the CR of the needle trap into the XP for the session. Admittedly, Celedras "defeated it" by virtue of his elvish immunity to sleep, but hey, that's still defeating it! ;)

Next level, ranks are definitely going into Search and Move Silently (Ranger), and at 12th, ranks are going into Disable Device and Open Lock (Scout). If he's going to be acting as the party rogue, he needs to be a bit better at it!

Oh, and Celedras definitely must have Manyshot as his next feat. 12th level, come to me now!

yay! thankee!

And i'll probably negate that cone of cold with my 20 points of healing.

I'll be around next weekend, but away for the two after that, just as a reminder for any scheduling stuff. I'll be happy to leave my character sheets there for you.

Well, lythandra and I will be off to Comic-Con for at least one of those weekends anyway, so for the other one, maybe some Star Wars RPG, or my Greyhawk game, can happen on the other. We'll see!

Your skills are impressive... but you are not a Jedi yet.

Undead with weapons takes all the danger out of them, I think. Part of the reason the more powerful undead are so annoying to get up close and personal with is their leveldrain ability.

Unless of course they're wielding some kind of weapon that drains 'em better than they normally could ;)

Unless I'm reading this wrong and it was well balanced... what were you guys beating up in there besides that wight (and did Frisk there plan on you running up the stairs, so he only put that one wight there... ;) )

The wight's are all former paladins who have a little more semblence to them than normal wights, thus they remember how to use the equipment they were already carrying when they became wight's. The wight he ran into up there, was heading for the stairs to come down them. It had 6 allies up with it, but they were all told to jump the ledge and drop down on the party, which they did. -Frisk

A dungeon full to the brim w/ wights needs something to keep it from becoming a quick, one-way trip back to first level; in this case, the knowledge that they might stop using their weapons and start using their drain attack was plenty for Celedras.

He's no coward, but considers his life precious. His best centuries are still ahead of him!

What you guys need is a level 13 Totem Warrior that can change form, to his totem animal (a lion), at will.

Ad in my 121 Hits points, a 31 AC, 15-10-5 base attacks and the +5 vorpal long sword you have a human tank. ;=3

BTW, the group I'm with, which now includes Teri, is doing the Dragon Mountain campaign. :=3
