I WOULD PLAY THAT GAME. AND I NEVER PLAY VIDEO GAMES.
WHICH MEANS THAT IT WOULD REALLY, REALLY WIN.

Anyway, I am not so sure about Avatar Total War. No archers, only a handful of bender types, only four factions...
On the other hand, crushing spearmen with earth tanks would fill me with nigh creepy levels of glee.

No archers?? But what about the Yu Yan archers??
Anyway, I've actually written out all the different military types you could train, based on what we've seen on the show, and I think it's a pretty good list, even if it IS only a very few factions. But then, a lot of strategy games go for the trifaction model instead of opting for the massive numbers of factions like in Total War and the Age of Empires series.
You could build an even bigger list of unit types if you used, say, the FN weapon shop as a model.
And really, I would also add that the visual and tactical variety could potentially be larger than any of the Total War games so far, given the versatility of bending vs. just a buncha spears and swords.

But....Ok, you have convinced me. Some kind of (serious) Avatar strategy would be very cool.
BTW, have you tried the avatar chibi strategy game? It is no Rome Total War certainly, but it is something.
