On Boo-ing in Kansas City

While I don't have any trouble believing that some of this type of behavior went down, I do kinda think that it may be getting slightly blown out of proportion. I think that one person reported the booing by a small group of "pre-teen" boys and then a lot of people have run with it. It always refers back to these "pre-teen" or "teen" boys, so it seems to have been a very small segment of the audience. Though posted on several boards, I think it's all referencing the original post.

And just to make myself feel better, I called Dreamerren and asked her about it because she was there. She says she thought the crowd was amazing, and that crowd was really loud and positive and involved in the other idol's sets. She said Andrew was going nuts during Archie's set and "raising the roof" and that Archie got cheers second only to Cook. She was shocked to hear the boo-ing rumors.

She said there were two times when the crowd booed. The first was when Michael talked about getting booted off the show with "Dream On" and the boos were at him getting booted off the show. And the second time was, during his set Michael said he was happy to be in Kansas. No one booed then, but when Cook came out he said "Yeah, Michael thinks we're in Kansas" and then people booed because they were in Missouri, but it was a good natured, lighthearted boo.

I'm not saying that NO ONE in the crowd was rude. Obviously these teen boys were. I just think Kansas City's not getting a fair shake here. For the most part the crowd was extremely receptive to the other Idols.

As for why PDSTM was the way it was, it's been theorized that the Idol's wanted to allow this show to have an emphasis on Cook. His first hometown show. Word on the boards is that the Mavid dance is back on for tonight. So, I don't think it was canceled because of the crowd. If it was because of the rudeness of the crowd, then I think Cook's demeanor would have been different during his set.

YMMV, of course....
