Ivy was left standing, frantic, as Jason walked away. About to burst into tears, she quickly headed back to her room, as she began to sob. The tears were rolling down her face by the time she reached the room she shared with Jason’s sister, Nadia. She opened the door, not seeing, praying Nadia wouldn’t be there with a snarky remark, reaching for ( Read more... )

"... Hello?" Wendla said timidly, approaching her from behind. She'd just been to the shops, holding a bag full of knitting supplies.

"I... what... who are you?" Ivy sputtered out, awkwardly and confusedly. "What is going on!"

Ivy was used to strange things happening, but not when she hadn't taken anything.

"I'm Wendla, and you've reached The Estates. There is no way home and I cannot explain why or how you've gotten here," she said timidly, her hands folded over her coat. "I'm terribly sorry..."

"No, it's fine, it's all... it's all my fault," she sniffed, still sobbing, "I shouldn't have... just... do you have a tissue?"

Ivy might be a little more communicative without tears rolling down her cheeks, and even though she was trying, it is hard to talk while crying.

Seamus was leaned against the outside wall, a fag pressed to his lips.

"Not quite like home, is it Lass?" he called, nodding to the poor girl. "I imagine you're about as confused as we all were when we stared up at these great, bloody gates."

Ivy just stared at him for a minute. This was strange.

"Like home? No. Not really. I guess... but that's not the problem." Ivy sniffed a bit, still crying. "I am confused," she admitted, "but not so much by the gates. By my... friend... that's... more confusing."

Ivy was so confused, and by two different things simultaneously, that she couldn't really speak coherently, only adding to her distress.

"Friends can be confusing," Seamus agreed, flicking some of the ash from the end of his fag. "What's so confusing about yours, if you don't mind me prying?"

Oh, he wasn't prying. Ivy wanted to tell. A lot.

"It's just that we... did it, and then went away for Spring Break, and he didn't call me at all, even though I waited, and then, back at school, I told him I loved him," tears sprung into Ivy's eyes, but she continued, "and then he told me we shouldn't see each other, and then I ended up here."

Ivy paused for a moment. "O my god, I've just been and told you everything, and I don't even know your name!" she exclaimed. She was normally rather open, but this was extreme.

Melchior looked up from his book, his brows furrowing with concern.

"... Are you okay?" he asked. It was a question that felt a little ridiculous to him, as the girl in front of him did not appear to be very okay at all.

"No, not really." Ivy sniffled, as one does when one is crying. "I just broke up with my boyfriend - at least, I think he was my boyfriend - and," she paused, because that was important, but really, there were bigger things to be worrying about.
"Where the hell am I?"

"The Estates?" Melchior replied, standing up to open the gates for the girl. "Not a very helpful answer, but I don't really know beyond that. We all just appeared here much the way you just did."

Ivy looked rather crest-fallen. There was nothing wrong with this place, as far as she could tell, and there was lots wrong with home, but she was attached.

"Oh..." she began, and then stopped.
"Well, thank you," she began again as she walked through the open gates, "no one's been so nice to me in ages." Well, maybe Matt had, but she prefered not to think of that.
"My name's Ivy, by the way," she offered.
