I hadn't read your post about your grandfather, so thank you for sharing it.

My grandmother died of a stroke in 2001 and in the five years my grandfather lived without her I knew he missed her terribly. He was fearsome at times, tender other times but most importantly he was the rock solid center of my mother's family. To hear him weep for five years, to witness his vulnerability was new and shocking and deeply touching. Though my story isn't quite as poetic or dramatic as yours it affected me similarly.
