First things first, I'd like to wish a warm (and very overdue) welcome to popfiend. He's a friend of beldar's who thought he'd check me out since he hears so much about me from him. I'm working Friday (so am off on July 21). Aida is "go" for Saturday night. We can discuss Sunday in person.

I'm going to Les Mis tomorrow night with my mom and her 'internet boyfriend' who is in town for a week I guess. Then Friday night, we have a Hash celebrating Bastille Day. I wish I had a beret to wear. I have a feeling I'll be speaking french a lot in the next couple of days....

I think that not looking at checks is the default pattern for most financial institutions. I once had some checks stolen and then used. I was amazed to learn that the bank didn't verify signatures for what was a significant amount to me (low four figures).

You'd think that their computers would catch the duplicate-check thing, though, and spit out the second one.
