Title: Under Grey Towers
Characters: Russia/America.

Summary: 1971 - A new winter, a new detente, and a new chance to try and get things right. Or at least not get them too wrong.

Seriously, these two.... making out against a missile silo..... But I'm so glad to see they've been behaving themselves and have (hopefully!) calmed down a little. They seemed so much more relaxed at the beginning than we've seen them recently -- maybe some distance really was all they needed. It's nice to see them being so much more open and honest with each other.

Russia feeling like he was out of practice saying "I love you" and America wondering if Russia still loved him broke my heart a little, though. Oh boys...

Seriously, these two.... making out against a missile silo.....

So Wizzard and I go through this whole process with every chapter, right, where we take the historical event we're basing the chapter around, and talk about the themes and the narrative arc for the chapter, and then once we've got a game plan for all that stuff, we pick the POV character, and work out the setting. And working out the setting can be kind of tricky, since like 75% of international relations is Long Meetings In Conference Rooms and that would be dull as paste to read about. So we try to find a more participatory take on things, to give you guys a change in scenery if nothing else. And this chapter we spent, like, 20 minutes trying to figure out how to make this not a conference room fic.

Until we were just like, "...You know what, I want to see them making out against a missile silo. Let's make it happen." "Hot. Also, agreed."

We are so sophisticated, is my point. XD

Also, the chapter is wonderful, make-outs against a missile silo cracked me up, but I kinda really liked the mention of France, truly, that bastard, but I supposed it's nice to know that Russia actually enjoys the thought that America is a little possessive of him =D

We're really happy to actually be able to get back to the Russia/America in TCE. XD You wouldn't think it'd be so thin on the ground! But these boys. With their breakups, and their warheads, and their carrying on.

They've still got hard times ahead of them, but they've learned a lot!
