Time stood still. The second hand ticked. After an aeon, it ticked again. Ian waited, expectant. Instinct was pulling at him to look at his watch, just to see how much time had passed, but he didn’t want to look impatient. That would be disastrous.
The second hand on his watch ticked again.
Ian continued to wait. Oh, he knew what was going to happen next, he wouldn’t have asked if he wasn’t absolutely sure of her answer.
Barbara stared, a gentle smile on her face. Falling to her knees she met his eyes. “Yes. I will.”
