Wow, I love this. All the obvious clues that John is who Rodney wants--and Rodney just can't see it! Rodney's rationalizations over his relationships with Katie and then Jennifer were so painful to read; and quite a spot-on example of what we all put ourselves through when we think we "should" want a certain person or gender.

My heart aches for poor wrecked John! I'm off to read part 2.

Love the pudding cup metaphor:

< snicker > Poor Ronon--he tried so hard, but Rodney's obliviousness still triumphed.... (I think Ronon must've felt as the prosecutor did about his photographic evidence during the trial in Alice's Restaurant.) And poor tired dispirited John! Perhaps Teyla will be forced to smack Rodney with a clue-by-four.
