Well, there have been hints throughout the story - and I am pretty sure Pike is going to convince Jim to join Starfleet. It will be interesting to see how (or if) you tie this fic into the events of the movie - Nero and such.
I hope Spock and Jim resolve everything soon, as well. You said there is one more part left?
Thanks very much! (Sorry for the slow response...) I'm glad the fic seems like it's shaping up for you now. :D And yes, there's one more part left--I hope the final chapter satisfies! Thanks for sticking with this story and for all your comments. ♥
I knew Mudd was going to try and get back at Jim somehow, what a complete bastard. At the very least the slimeball got the ball rolling on exposing T'Pring. Speaking of which I did not see that coming. I actually liked her in this story but then she ruined it by trying to turn Vulcan against the Federation. I'm glad she was caught before the talks actually began.
As for Jim, he is such a hard headed moron. I would have been pissed if I were in his shoes but he could have let Spock explain himself instead of running out and planning to run away. I love Bones, I really do. He saw right through the bullshit and got straight to the point, good man.
I can't wait for the next chapter :) I love the way this is written, it's easy to read and the descriptions thrown in paint a clear picture in my mind.
Sorry for the belated response! (I sound like a broken record...) I'm glad you liked this chapter! Poor T'Pring. I know that sounds weird, but she's one of my favorite characters, and she's trying to do the right thing in her own way. Even if it's kinda misguided.
...And then there's Jim, everyone's favorite clod-headed hunk. Oh, Jim. Here's hoping he learns some restraint sooner or later. And honestly that scene with Bones might be one of my favorites in the whole story--glad you liked it! It was really fun to write.
Next chapter should be up this week! Sorry it's been so slowy; I'm going to do a big master-post with PDFs and downloads and such when I post the last chapter, though, so hopefully it's worth the wait. Thanks again! ♥
Hahaha, thank you very much! I'm glad you enjoyed it. I don't know what Jim would do without Bones to keep him in line, that's for sure. Probably drive off the road into a ditch somewhere. Next chapter coming very soon--thanks for sticking with this fic!
Okay, so now that I'm done gushing over THE PIANO SCENE and gotten to this chapter, I can tell you how very well written and well plotted this entire story is.
It's very much its own story as much as it is a re-imagining of another. You pay obvious homage to Pretty Woman while not bending to it so much that the world or characters lose that essential Trek-ness. Even when the story deviates pretty far from the events of the movie and more into its own universe, you bring it back around quite seamlessly.
HOORAY! Haha, I'm glad you liked the piano scene. I knew I wanted to do it, but I had to make sure it worked for the story before I crow-barrred it in there. So I'm really pleased that you liked it, and that the rest of the story works for you! Thanks very much for reading and for taking the time to comment--the next and last chapter is coming very soon. ♥
