Also, it is perfect - it presents a great visual image of gym while still being in character as an alien's perception.

Spock nodded, storing this information away for future reference, even though he was 98.76% certain that there were no such Rules of Being Human and Jim was simply being Jim.
I love that he's not 100% certain. lol
But that night, as he lay in bed with one of Spock's arms slung around his waist and Spock's warmth pressing against his back, Jim could not escape the nagging feeling that this was all too wonderful to last. Jim lay quietly, listening to Spock's steady, even breathing, and wondered what the hell he thought he was doing.
Ah, the foreshadowing of upcoming angst. I hope it's not too painful.
He took a deep breath and let it out, and then said finally, "I did not... I did not realize how much about her I did not know."
This is hands down the best scene I've read about Spock handling Amanda's death. For real. It is such a true accounting of how a man would react to finding how much he had lost as a boy.
