seperis wrote a great piece of meta right after the movie was released which I thought was really interesting and insightful called Star Trek Reboot: Initial Thoughts And Randomness.

You could also flick through the Star Trek meta tag for the kirkspock community.

Wikipedia
has a Star Trek timeline

Wikipedia Eugenics War article

And more on Memory Beta which is book/comic canon

Some discussion on the Eugenics/WW III

Don't know if any of that is of use... :-)

WARNING: the following statement is a shameless act of "sucking up".

Wow! Finding that I elicited a "Holy crap" out of you is something I consider to be a distinct honor after becoming so turned-into-fangirl by your story, "Speaking in Tongues" (which I left a 3-part comment on that I hope doesn't offend you in any way).

WE NOW RETURN YOU TO YOUR REGULARLY POSTED COMMENT.

Just use "Delta Vega" as a safeword to let me know you've had enough, otherwise, I will pour out some possibly annoyingly long comments just on your last Entry alone. I've already added to things I picked up from Reboot ST event line changes from the TOS event line, and I have more. Once again, the safeword
is "Delta Vega".

Eugenics Wars and the "Space Seed" Effect (part 1?) fruitcakeofevil August 9 2010, 05:25:05 UTC
The Eugenics Wars were when genetic "supermen" were bred as perfect soldiers. The soldiers, instead, became warlords and dominated over one-third of the Earth (including seizing power in some forty nations). Toward the end of the Eugenics Wars, between eighty and ninety of them were unaccounted for. Khan is recorded as being the most dangerous of these warriors, who had dominated much of the world in his own right ( ... )

Eugenics Wars and the "Space Seed" Effect (part 2?) fruitcakeofevil August 9 2010, 05:46:30 UTC

In "The Wrath of Kahn", it says that Kahn was found by the Enterprise 15 years earlier.

Kirk finds that he has a son (I believe it was stated he was 22). This means that Kirk unknowingly conceived a son roughly 3 years before he became Captain of the Enterprise.

Kirk's son is 3 to 4 when the Enterprise starts it's mission, and 8 to 9 by the time the mission ends.

However, once again, the TOS Enterprise is 6 years behind the RB Enterprise, and RB Kirk goes STRAIGHT from Starfleet Academy to Captain of the Enterprise. He does not meet the woman who he would, otherwise impregnate WITH THE SON WHO INVENTS THE DEVICE that kills and resurrects Spock.

This is now TWO STRIKES against Spock dying and being resurrected and all the cascading mind-melds that Spock ends up with that results (and, incidentally, THE QUOTE "I have been and always shall be your friend.")
