unfortunately, i missed the ball dropping. i was too busy watching mother spilling wine all over her chest and nearly falling out of our 20 floor balcony.

To me, the ball dropping doesn't mean a damned thing. I wasn't even paying attention to that. People become increasing concerned and obsessed with time because they have no control over it - New Year's is sort of a pinnacle of their obsession.

I look at New Year's Eve as just another time to go to a celebration/party/gathering with friends and have fun, or to be with someone you care about. But if neither of those things happen, there's always next weekend.
