Hey, all you anime lovers connected to me...

I want to add a panel to the cons where I am a guest. I think that now, fandom seems to be only looking to new shows and haven't seen some great older stuff.
So, can you give me a few titles you absolutely love?
I personally loved Bebop, Giant Robo, some of Slayers, Trigun, Dragon Half....

All have good character designs, excellent acting, and fun ( Read more... )

I really loved Outlaw Star. Fushigi Yuugi was a big one for me too (yes, I am downright girly for sap sometimes).

On a more rediculous note: G Gundam.

Hmmm... my anime club used to have a Retro night. They still might, I just never go.

I recall having fun with Ranma 1/2, Akazukin Chacha, Lupin III, Those Who Hunt Elves, the first half of Kenshin, Haunted Junction, Vampire Princess Miyu, Fushigi Yuugi, ALL of Slayers thank you, Dragon Half, Trigun, Kodomo no Omocha, Tenshi ni Narumon...

I don't know that I was all that discerning back when I was watching stuff regularly, and most of these things were seen in a scrambled order so I'm not sure if I could tell you the plot (except Slayers, which was my first one), but I did have fun with them.

It's sad that Cowboy Bebop is "old". When I think of "old" I think of Yamato and the first Gundam. :) Current fandom would probably not even look at the stuff I really liked because it's "ancient". (Like me :D )

It's current fandom's loss. It breaks my heart when I see these kids ignore stuff like the new Yatterman show because it's old skool. But what can you do?

Problem is not all classic anime makes for a good video game. Is there a Dr. Slump video game?

Tenchi, largely because it was the my first re-entry...and you could go on for hours on how the wheels FLEW off that bus after the first OAV.

I still feel like Kenshin, Bebop, and Trigun haven't lost their newness. Part of that has to do with the fact that people are still dressing up like them at conventions. Some of this also has to do with the fact that I only recently was able to finish watching them.

So, let's see . . . Nausicaa (pretty much any older Miyazaki), Evangelion, El Hazard, Bubblegum Crisis, Appleseed, Ah! My Goddess, Vampire Hunter D, Sailor Moon, and Escaflowne.

That's all I have for now.
