Well, here's a voice that is real, and a very twitchy Bast, since a certain cloud of quiet footsteps have taken to following him and echoing his every sound.

"Kvothe?"

"They're just playing with you." Quietly, and a little bit of irritated.

He nods. "I'm sure you're right."

"Me too." Firmly. A pause. "Maybe you shouldn't be in here." Too many shelves and things to play with sounds.

"You worry too much, Bast." Though he's not really arguing the point. He's not sure he wants to be in there at the moment.

"Maybe I do, maybe I don't. Maybe it'd be better outside."

He's silent for a bit before turning to ask Bast, "Have you heard anything familiar from these things?" He can't quite bring himself to say 'anyone' under the circumstances.

Bast shakes his head. "No. Not me."

He nods, having kind of expected that. "I'm sure whatever it is, will be gone soon enough. Things do seem to work like that around here." Being away from it and having had a moment to collect himself, he's much more convincing, though he isn't sure he believes it.

"It had better," Bast says, with a little bit of heat.
