The good doctor at work

Jul 02, 2006 01:21

It had been incredibly stupid not to at least check the clinic on Saturday. With this many not-children running around, someone was bound to do something dumb and get themselves hurt--that much had been proven to Hawkeye when he'd taken Jim off the bookshelf. Sure, they might not actually need a doctor, but better to be in the clinic and available and evading Annabelle-the-teen-seductress than to leave kids waiting.

So Hawkeye took up residence in the clinic for the day, one of the few useful books the island had given up--a 2005 edition of Obstetrics and Gynecology, new--in front of him on the table, a couple of fallback romance-type novels nearby. If he got bored enough, he'd do impromptu inventory. Which, in Hawkeye's mind, would be better than an injured kid, whether that kid was supposed to be an adult or not.

[He absolutely refuses to believe a hundred or so children can go two days without someone getting hurt. Possibly an adult, if they've run into Smith and his rocks, but someone. Prove him right or wrong; he's here in case anything comes up.]
