Sharon had been feeling strange cramps and so she went outside near the Compound to sit and enjoy the weather. She was talking to Benton when she felt a small gush of water and a painful contraction. She tried to get to her feet to get into the clinic, but her legs were feeling weak whether from fright or nervousness or even excitement, maybe all of them combined, when Benton scooped her up as if she didn't weigh a thing and carried her into the clinic. She wrapped her arms around his neck feeling both foolish and grateful for the help, and instinctively she called out to Helo when she was carried near their room. Without even having to ask Benton to go get him, he came. He was always aware of what was going on.
There was a doctor in the clinic, Dr. Carson Beckett, who Sharon hadn't met but who kindly offered his help and the medical supplies he had shown up on the island with. Some humans, Sharon marveled (and not for the first time), could be so giving. She accepted, again grateful, and with Benton and Dr. Beckett in the room she asked Helo to find Dr. Izzie, who in turn found Dr. Pierce. While he was out Helo found Leoben, and eventually the room was full of doctors and her family; Leoben, Kara, Six, Three, and Dr. Baltar. It was bad enough for Helo that Six was there, but Three in a room with Helo and Kara was a disaster waiting to happen. Helo, who was already feeling tense, was made even more so by the blonde cylon. Three merely pretended as if the other two humans weren't in the room, but Sharon knew she was keeping an eye on them. Despite the bad feelings between some of the others Sharon wanted them all there, needed them. They made her experience even more amazing than she thought it would be. Helo wiped her forehead with cool water and held her hand, and Sharon loved him more than she ever imagined she could.
Labor was painful and her contractions were intense, and Sharon worried that it would carry on for the entire day or that something would go wrong with the birth. She could see in Helo's eyes that he was scared, but he tried to hide it for her sake. Izzie and Dr. Pierce were tense and serious. Hours passed, and Sharon finally started to give birth. She couldn't remember a lot of details afterward, just pain and pushing and encouragement from the people around her.
After so much pushing that Sharon wanted to pass out, the baby was finally born. Hera wailed loudly at first but soon tapered down to a soft cry. Her eyes were so wide, she was beautiful. Sharon was in love, she felt overwhelmed by it and had tears streaming down her face. The baby was cleaned up, Helo cut the umbilical cord, she was wrapped in a blanket and finally Sharon was able to hold her. She was everything Sharon hoped she would be.
[ooc: Open to anyone who is/was there, and anyone wants to drop by the see the baby, Sharon is tired and so threads may be short. Because Sharon isn't the only one in the room, feel free to treat this as a mini gathering post, and you can tag each other. Others in the compound may have heard her or the baby crying. I ended up glossing over a lot of details (like placenta gushing!); for anyone who was in the room while it happened (Helo, Dr. Izzie, Dr. Pierce, Dr. Beckett, Fraser, Starbuck, Leoben, Six, Three, and Gaius) feel free to write in your own pov if you want to tag.]
