The rain gave Jim an excellent chance to be alone. Ever since waking up, Pam had been sort of hovering over him and for good reason. He managed to break away for just a bit, which was how he had come to sitting on the beach. It was raining, but he hardly noticed the large drops falling on him. It was warm enough that the rain more or less actually felt good anyway; kept him cool.
He was worried. More worried than he had ever really been before. He had kept most of it in check because he didn't want Pam to think he was anything but supportive, but the feeling lingered inside him, bringing up the anxious fear that was becoming all too familiar to him.
She might be pregnant.
He had always wanted a kid, but not here on the island and not with his girlfriend of only a few months, even if it was Pam. He knew he should have thought of that when it was happening, but as per usual he had been an idiot.
The idea of fatherhood itself was scary. Would he manage to take care of a kid decently? He had little cousins but it wasn't as if they spent more than a few hours at a time with him. For the first time in a long time, he found himself wishing his parents were here, if only to get some sort of advice. They weren't there, though. He had to deal with it by himself, stay together for her. When he had told her he was with her completely, that he would help her through it, he hadn't been lying.
Sighing, he closed his eyes, falling into thought.
[OOC: Open to anyone, really, especially anyone who wants to cheer him up or any Serenity pups so Jim can find out what he had dreamt wasn't a dream. Just don't expect him to be his usual self. -grins-]
