"You know, I'm a little disappointed," Inara said, with that tian sha smirk on her face. "Some of the crew's performances weren't quite as nuanced as they could have been. Thought they might have tipped the fact that we were playing you from the second Mal took you out of that crate. Oh well. Guess not."

She picked up the control to the garbage bin as Saffron turned to attempt to climb out again, and Saffron turned back just in time to see her wave as the lid started to close. "No, you can't do this!" she screamed, starting to panic.

Faintly, she heard Inara's smug reply. "You're not going to die, you big baby. The authorities will be here in a few hours to dig you out."

A few hours? Saffron refused to accept that. She was not about to spend the next few HOURS covered in slime and filth, and on top of that, they had her Lasiter! "You can't do this! I have a condition!" she blurted, almost desperately, completely irritated with herself for showing so much panic.

There was no response from the outside. "Ni ta ma de tian xia suo you de ren dou gai si!" she shouted furiously, stomping her foot. What was she supposed to do now? There was no way she was letting the Alliance take her in. They hadn't caught up with her yet, and they weren't about to now. She shoved against the lid of the dumpster, pushing with all her might, but it didn't budge. Frustrated, she covered her face with her hands and took a deep, calming breath -

And when she took her hands away she was standing in the middle of a jungle. Her guard was up immediately, and she spun in place, looking for a sign of anyone nearby. All around her was nothing but jungle, the dumpster nowhere in sight. Wherever she was, she wasn't about to stand around waiting to be ambushed by whomever. She picked a direction and started walking, crashing through the foliage and wincing as the occasional branch whipped her in the face.

After what seemed like an eternity but was probably only a few minutes, she heard the sound of rushing water, and emerged from the trees to see a waterfall. Still no one was in sight, and there hadn't been any sign of any people. She was filthy and her hair stunk, and the desire to get clean won out over the need to stay on the alert. She was confident she could charm anyone who happened her way, anyhow. Stripping off her filthy clothing, she rinsed each piece carefully and as best she could in the surprisingly warm water, then spread them across the rocks to dry. Finally bare, she slipped into the water herself, her eyes closed, taking on the appearance of someone who had no idea what was happening around them.
