Zelda had been mildly shocked when she'd woken up, well, in Sheik's body once again and an initial elation that her magic had returned to her had been dashed once she realized that, no, she merely had his body once again and that other people had shifted and changed age or gender. She'd dressed in some of Alistair's clothes, though they were ( Read more... )

Gwaine's in the middle of tying back his hair with a band, trying to get used to the fact that his chest keeps getting in the way of things. He stops when he realizes it's him being spoken to, poking a finger at his chest before peering at the man. "Same age, different sex, but just as gorgeous, I like to think."

"I will write that down," Zelda said, dutifully noting it on the pad of paper she'd decided to keep for her informal poll. "Could I get your name, then? I probably know you already and just can't recognize you, so I'll be embarrassed, I'm sure. I'm Zelda."

There's paper involved. Gwaine's never been one to take notes and his nose crinkles up in mild disgust at the very sight of it. "Gwaine. Please, don't write that down. I've always fared better when there's no record of my comings and goings. Trust me."

"Oh, it's Zelda," Zelda said, laughing a little. She didn't write his name down, per his request, but it did amuse her greatly to see Gwaine as a woman. "How are you enjoying your new body, then?"

Since she'd come to this place, Helena had spent a lot of time observing - scouting to get familiar with the geography, watching the people, that kind of thing. And oh man, was there a lot to observe right now. The island might just be crazier than home.

She shook her head at the guy who asked the question, sprawling into a nearby chair. “No change here, thank God.” Hard to say what she'd have done if she'd woken up as a teenager or kid - or a guy. Yikes. Her body was her own, thank you. And it still looked damn good, even in the flannel shirt and jeans that wretched box had thrown at her.

She nodded to the guy - or maybe “guy” was a better way to put it, given the book he was reading. “I'm guessing you're dealing with gender problems, huh?”

"I am, yes. I'm normally a woman," Zelda said, reaching up to tuck her hair behind her ear and realizing that with short hair, it was unnecessary. She'd gotten so used to her long hair that it was just...automatic. "I'm taking a poll for the psychology office. Have you recently changed in age or gender?"

“Not recently, not ever.” Helena shifted in her chair a little, looking at the guy - girl - person at the table. “What's it like?

"Being a man?"

How did she explain that she'd spent seven years of her life in this very body and that it wasn't very strange at all, but rather like just pulling on a winter cloak after a long summer? She couldn't, really, and she simply shrugged.

"It's...odd, I suppose. It's not that bad. At least I'm still healthy and sane?"
