Although Loki does not know it, in what follows -as in so many things before- he is merely following the path of his older brother. He had let go of the shattered remains of the Bifrost only seconds before, falling quickly down, down to a destination that even he was uncertain of. Loki, rarely uncertain of anything, would have been unnerved by ( Read more... )

One more time, and this will officially be a pattern.

Notebook clutched firm in one hand, Jane crawls forward and peers over the edge of the large outcropping of rock she'd been seated on-The same rock, in fact, that she'd been sitting on when Thor had come tumbling out of the same patch of sky. Brown eyes round with surprise and ill-suppressed excitement, she takes in the armor, the cloak, and calls over the roar of the water.

"ARE YOU FROM ASGARD?"

The woman's shouts broke through the silence with enough force to shake Loki from his thoughts. He turned towards the voice, not entirely trusting his vision. Without magic all of his senses felt dulled and heavy, but there was no mistaking the mortal in front of him. It was that woman. Having spent so much time watching his brother's sojourn on Earth from afar, Loki would have known her anywhere.

His first instinct was to react angrily and let fly some curse, but luckily Loki rarely acted on first instincts, even when he had still had magic at his disposal. He was out of his depth, he was lost, he was (at least for the moment) powerless and she was possibly his only source of information. He would be polite. And he would be patient.

"Yes. Is this Midgard?" If it was it certainly seemed to have gotten very green very quickly.

"No," Jane calls in reply, but immediately thinks better of it and shakes her head as she pulls a face. "Well, maybe. Probably not. The signs point to no, but the evidence isn't decisive. Right now, we're calling it an isolated pocket universe. Did you use the Bifröst?" Dark hair hangs in a curtain around her face as she stares down at him, eyes bright in anticipation.

"In a manner of speaking," Loki replied curtly, beginning the final climb out of the water. The fight with his brother had taken a lot out of him and with no magic to replenish his strength it was more difficult than he had anticipated. The fact that if he had only had his powers he could have been out of the water, dry, comfortable and on his way towards real answers did nothing but rankle him and his expression mirrored his thoughts.

Thor's search for Mjolnir is ongoing; though he'd long since moved on from scouring the area in which he arrived, he's taken to returning to it over the past few days. With the underground city of Rapture secured and seemingly left to rot, there's been little else to capture his attention save Jane since last month's end, and with no success in other parts of the island, it struck him as wise to return to the place where it all began. (What he'll do upon finding his hammer, he's not entirely sure; the question of whether or not he'll even be able to lift it has weighed heavily on his mind, though it's his understanding that all things have been stripped of their enchantments, presumably Mjolnir included ( ... )

At the sight of his brother (not really your brother a nasty little voice inside comments, never your brother) Loki tenses, gripping the rock hard. The moments before his fall are still uncomfortably close, but Thor appears to care little about it, bounding over the rocks with an enthusiasm that seems quite out of place when compared to their fight on the bridge. Loki doubts that his brother could have forgotten it entirely, no matter how mercurial his temper can be at times, which leaves his behavior uncomfortably confusing.

"Thor," he says calmly, though his voice is a bit hoarse and he has to cough to clear his throat after all of the water he swallowed earlier.

Thor drops down into a crouch once he's within only a couple of feet, keen blue eyes taking in his brother's appearance and countenance with a warrior's efficiency: wet, surely, but not injured. He's reluctant to offer his hand, remembering how well that went the last time, but seeing no real alternative, he does so, regardless. Whatever Loki's troubles may be, whatever circumstances he just left, they don't matter here, and Thor will not see his brother wander off alone, and get into Odin knows what mischief.

"I have much to tell you," he says, "but not here. Come, take my hand."

Loki hesitates, watching Thor's hand as if he half expects him to pull it away at the last moment. After what happened last time, he wouldn't blame him. But the hand and the brother stay where they are and after some deliberation Loki takes hold. It makes him feel rather childish to have to rely on Thor to help pull him up, and after the ferocity of their earlier battle it almost verges on the ridiculous.

"I did not expect to see you again so soon." Loki smiles faintly, a hint of his true nature coming to the fore.

Delirium giggled, watching as the man went sploosh. Not many men went sploosh only a special kind. Maybe he was a fallen angel like Lucy-fur. Maybe he was a fallen God, fallen out of favour and forgotten like Thor and that fat kid she'd- well, he hadn't died well to say the least. Del stepped over his arm and around him before tilting her head to look at him properly.

"Hello," Delirium said grinning as she curtseyed. "Are you a fallen angel? You went sploosh. Fish go sploosh and angels and gods and dying humans. You do not look like a dying human."

The woman kept talking, but only parts of what she was saying properly filtered through to Loki. A babble about fish and falling and the noises they made that only managed to confuse Loki more than he was before. The bit at the end was clearly understood though and he focused on the woman in front of him more fully.

"Likely because I am not human."

Delirium stopped, turning in one spot until she looked at him. Really looked at him. Delirium tilted her head, staring until she thought she saw something. Recognition not of him recognising her but her of him. He had a familiarity. Something home-y.

"Neither am I." Delirium said smiling. "I know you. You are... word on the tip of my tongue. Naughty. Cheater. Something else. Name, name, name. What is it?"

"Loki." The desire to refer to himself as an Odinson was still strong even though he was no longer certain whether he had any claim to that name after what had happened before his fall. But perhaps it was better that he left it unsaid. After all, he was in a strange place without the aid of his powers and with only a crazed looking woman as his guide.

"My name is Loki."

"That's one way to get noticed," Wanda muttered to herself once the brief shock of having someone drop roughly into the water before her, seemingly from out of nowhere, wore off. She'd been taking it easy for the last few days, waiting for the variety of bruises she'd earned herself down in Rapture to fade before battering herself up again, and she hesitated awkwardly where she sat with her legs dangling in the water until she was fairly sure that the guy wasn't about to drown without assistance.

"You alright there, hon?" she called, leaning forward, lips pursing when she got a decent look at the guy. Faces didn't mean a whole lot in this place, but combined with armor that could easily pass for Asgardian... the fact that she recognized his could definitely be interesting. And not necessarily in the fun way.

It was plain enough for someone who lied as much as Loki did to see that the woman's words might have been helpful, but her expression was anything but pleased. Setting his own face into a mask, he began dragging himself more fully from the water. "Quite all right. I've only fallen into a pool of water from a great height and I've no idea where I am, but I can manage." His words contrasted with the rather bland expression and they came out a bit hoarser than he would have liked, but they were still infinitely cheering to him. Clearly even this experience couldn't make him lose his tongue.

"Cute," Wanda deadpanned, but she got uneasily to her feet anyway, edging a little closer to him. He looked different when he wasn't looming over everything in his 'green and yellow with giant horns' ensemble, but if this was, in fact, Loki, he was hardly the first person to lose a little something in the translation on the way to Tabula Rasa. No matter who he was a few seconds ago, though, he was just some guy now. "Need a hand, anyway?"

Loki scrambled a little further up the rock, still fighting against the weight of his cloak and armor. Part of him wanted to climb all the way up without assistance, but he knew that the sooner he got out of the water, the sooner he could get some of his questions answered. "I would not say no."
