"Is there a word for that feeling when you think someone likes you but you are too frightened to ask and all you get is stumbling sentences and mindless conversation?" Del asked, turning he head to stare down at Barnabas. Barnabas groaned, covering his nose with his paws as she frowned at him. "I thought maybe there was. I wish you cold talk to me ( Read more... )

Ray knew he had seen stranger things on the island before, but somehow a painting stuck up a tree had the power to make him stop and stare. That was all he did. Stop, fold his arms across his chest, tilt his head and stare.

And into his head popped: in a weird way, it's almost a metaphor for life. When Ray thought about it, he had no idea how it was such a metaphor, but he seemed satisfied with the conclusion nonetheless.

"Ray Vecchio, stop standing there and get it out the tree." Del said annoyed and excited all at once. Del never called him Ray, she called him Baldman and a variety of names but never his actual name. Del wandered over and stared up at Ray. Del stared at his nostrils, wondering for a brief moment if she could fit her head up there before she snapped out of it and poked Ray in the chest. "Get it Ray Vecchio."

Del stared at him seriously before finally saying. "Please."

It wasn't that Ray wanted to ruin the pleasant surprise he felt when Del used his proper name, he just equally didn't want to go clambering up a tree to fetch a picture frame.

Sure, he'd scaled the side of a building before while following Fraser's antics and lived to tell the tale, but he and trees had always had a somewhat conflicting relationship.

"You want me to go up there?" Ray asked, pointing a finger lamely up at the leaves. "Do I look like Spiderman?"

Del leaned on her tiptoes, touching Ray's face gently and pleading. Smiling sweetly at him, she took his hand and nodded excitedly and panicked at the same time.

"Please, Ray Vecchio." Del said.

Priestly didn't actually talk to Del all that much outside of the kitchen, but when he saw her looking alternately elated and distraught on the beach-even though that wasn't entirely an unusual state for her-it wasn't like he could just walk on by.

"Hey, Del," he called out to her, walking out onto the warm sand. "Did you find some buried treasure or something?"

They were on a desert island. It totally wasn't outside the realm of possibility.

Del stretched her hands around the frame of her sister-brother, dragging it backwards. It was tall, taller than her and a bit cumbersome to move but she had to have them all in place and she had to have them in order or she couldn't talk to them. Del turned, looking at Priestly and stepped backwards before letting out a squeak as she and the painting fell. Stuck beneath the painting Del kicked out her legs before giving up the struggle.

"Priestly!" Del yelled staring up at the sky before laughing. She always knew Desire would kill her.

Okay, that definitely called for him to increase his amble to at least a jog, if not a run. "It's okay, I got it," he said, tilting the painting back up off her without even really looking at it. "You can crawl on out of there. Where did you even find this? Was there a shipwreck somewhere?"

With her head tilted back Del watched Priestly jog over to her. Humming Holding Out For a Hero under her breath as she watched him, Del smiled as her multicoloured action hero came and rescued her. Squeaking Del scrambled from beneath the frame and breathed easily once she was free.

"It's mine. Sort of. That's my sibling Desire, Big Meanie! Trying to kill me, well you can't kill me. HA!" Del said pulling a tongue at her beautiful and handsome sibling. "I've only found three though, there should be seven. It's from my gallery, well Delight's gallery but it's mine-ours. Delight is me, was me so it's mine."

"Sister," Del stopped suddenly, staring at Luke breathlessly before she smiled brightly. Her sister was staring at her from the frame. Her calm eyes, graceful and beautiful. The painting was classical, the frame ornate and beautiful. Del knew it wasn't the mishapen gallery that Delirium had lost but the one that had been Delight's so long ago. "Luke. Sister, I see you've met Luke, Luke this is my sister; Death."

"No, it's not. It's my gallery. Well, not mine. Delight's. It's how we contact each other when we wish to speak. We stand before our siblings and we hold their sigils and then we talk." Del said ignoring the Delirium part. She supposed it, her was still a part of her even if she wasn't sure exactly who she was supposed to be anymore. Some days it was easy to fall into her role as Insanity but other days, like today, when confronted with Delight's possessions she wondered what the island was trying to tell her. "She's beautiful, isn't she? Most people are afraid of her."

She finds Barnabas first, or rather, the dog finds her, running up to Brooke with a bark and then away again, clearly agitated about something. "Wait!" Brooke calls after it, "Puppy! Here, pup- oh!" She very nearly crashes headlong into Delirium. "Delirium? What's happening?"

Del ran after Barnabas as he barked at something. Chasing him Del came to a sudden stop falling back onto her butt as she stared up at Brooke. Del stared at Brooke's face before smiling happily and sanely up at her. Brooke was still beautiful even if she did want to do things to Robb Stark.

"I found my siblings, I found my gallery." Del said excited and panicked all at the same time. "It's not my gallery, it's Delight's but I can call them. My siblings, I can call them and they can speak to me and then they can come here and be with me or I can go back to my realm. And I need to find them, the rest of them."

"The what? Honey, slow down." Brooke extends a hand, then thinks better of it and bends over, pulling Delirium back to her feet. "What do you mean, what - "

Something near the surf catches her eye, something large and rectangular, almost like - "There are paintings in the water!"

"Brother! Stick in the Butt!" Del yelled. It was Morpheus not Daniel, half stuck in the sand with dark eyes and darker clothes and his helm hanging onto his fingers. Delirium would be concerned that he would drown if he weren't a painting and he weren't already dead. Still, she doubted her brother would like being in salt water very much no matter how often her flooded his realm. "They're mine! We have to save them."
