House Party

Dec 11, 2010 17:26

It'd been so fucking easy to put together, Chris didn't understand how he'd been the first person to think of it. Yeah, there'd been plenty of parties on the island before-- or so Chris had been told-- but he wasn't sure that any of them had been real, proper parties and not a group of people just sort of milling around, sipping at glasses of wine ( Read more... )

Peter had convinced her it would be fun, but Savannah just felt out of place to start with. She didn't drink and she didn't smoke pot and so she sat back in the corner and watched and had a snack.

It didn't take long before the party became Peter's best idea ever. She got up and danced with people she'd never met and didn't even ask them their names. She didn't have anything but a glass of water but that was okay because it was the best tasting water in the world and she loved how it felt in her mouth. And she loved dancing. And she loved this music.

"I love you," she said to the person she bumped into, sort of rubbing against them because that felt good, too. It didn't even seem strange that this wasn't like her. At all. Savannah might be friendly but she was never like this.

"You do?" Xander asked as he cocked his head, looking hard at the girl. She was one of the fuzzy people and he had to reach out and touch her to make sure she was really there. He was half convinced the out of focus people were ghosts.

"Oh...do I love you too?" Could you love a ghost?

"You love me big bunches," Savannah assured him with earnest eyes and a slow nod. She grabbed his shirt and pulled herself closer to him, smiling broader as she got closer.

"You should dance. It's a thing. Everyone's got to dance until it;s hot enough to melt the house."

"Oh well then. I guess I could give you a dance. It is kinda my thing." Xander said with a small laugh as she pulled into her.

He started to move with the music, just like he did every other night. But for some reason, tonight it was much easier to loose himself in the music. To start, he covered her hands in his shirt with his and coaxed her into taking it off as he moved against her.

She'd been doing a round of the boardwalks, lighting the torches, when she heard the music. She'd never been shy about inserting herself into situations, and nobody at the party seemed to mind. Or shy, they certainly lacked that. She'd decided they were her kind of crowd, although, somehow, after that brownie she'd had, anyone seemed like they could be her kind of crowd.

She was dancing. Normally she wasn't much of a dancer -- except for the kind that involved swords, and she'd left hers up against a wall at some point earlier in the night -- but this didn't seem to be about being charming or elegant. It was about moving, feeling the flow of the music and crowd and shifting with it, bounding with energy. This, she could get behind, especially with her senses on overload.

Somewhere, torches were going out because she'd neglected lighting them. She really didn't care.

Since her arrival on the island, Kate had gotten drunk a total of one time and she'd been stoned a few more times than that, but she'd never felt like this. Not since coming here. Effy had invited her and she'd dragged Marshall along with her -- because she had to. Because he was her brother and it was her responsibility.

It was good. Whatever the fuck it was, it was good and Kate felt sort of normal and totally abnormal at the same time. Things felt weird and fucked and that was normal. She was dancing, the music good, her mood better than it had been in months and Christ, for the first time, she actually kind of wished Gene or Zack or anyone was around for her.

Tommy was moving through the party on his way to grab some of the food, not even sure he wanted to be there any more. He'd never been one for parties or club-scenes, more happy sat on a sofa surrounded by beer and junk food, but was spurred on by Shari's words and looking to make some friends. And then he saw her.

"Beth!" He called, relieved to find a familiar face and pushed his towards her. "Hey, how's it going?"

"Hey," Kate said enthusiastically, turning when she heard someone speaking to her. At this point, she'd already forgotten that she'd pretended to be someone else, but then she realized he'd called her Beth and she was too fucked up to correct him. He was a guy and he was close and that was all that mattered.

"You are cute," she said, leaning into Tommy, giving him a smile. "Did I tell you that when we first met?"

"Uhh, no, you didn't," Tommy smiled nervously at the compliment. "Thank you, though."

He cleared his throat as he glanced around, not comfortable fully facing her in case she got any closer, but not wanting to be rude. "You are... very pretty, also," Tommy added.

Everything was a little too much of an overload for Claire's senses, but she did her best to pick and choose what to pay attention to, and that had made the night relatively worthwhile. She still didn't trust the glass of beer that someone had randomly coaxed into her hands, too reminded of that night after the homecoming game, and the thick smoke which lingered around the area felt so foreign and heavy, but there were a few familiar faces that she could pick out, people she trusted. And for whatever it was worth, no one had made her do anything yet that she wasn't comfortable with.

That spoke volumes.

She grinned when she caught sight of Chris some distance away, giggling as he went dancing about again, a part of her wishing that she could do so as well with such abandon. Instead, she still remained quiet and off to the side, unable to even try and take a sip from her glass just yet.

"I don't think this is a standing party," Arya informed the girl, trying for grave but missing it completely, as enervated by the world as she was. She fairly collapsed into a position leaning on the wall beside her, but did not cease moving, hips swaying to the beat, her shoulder the only part doing any actual leaning.

Claire laughed immediately at the tone of voice the other girl used, the pitch slightly dropped and trying for weight that somehow didn't quite pull across. Conceding a bit, she also started moving her shoulders around to the music- it wasn't quite what she was used to at school, where dances always seemed intent on playing Justin Timberlake, but it was fun and catchy nonetheless.

"No, it's probably not," she admitted, feeling grateful for the company. "I think I was just waiting for someone to invite me out to the dance floor. This party is really helping me realize that I don't know nearly enough people on the island."

Arya laughed. "A girl can never know enough people," she said, although her impression of Syrio's haughty tones was as deficient as her grave manner. "Now, you know me, and I'm inviting you."

She fluidly detached herself from the wall and extended a playful hand.

Tommy had overheard about the party and knew it wouldn't be his scene, more suited to crashing on a sofa with a crate, but was curious to see who would be here - Shari's words guiding him to socialize.

He stood himself beside a table of food and picked at the various baked goods until he was smiling like an idiot at the crowd dancing before him. He was feeling good, sure, but nothing would persuade Tommy to join in the dancing.
