I can't really explain why the fuck I decided I needed to do this, but it's too late to back out now. We could've spent the day just like any other, the five of us plus two extra, and maybe the girls wouldn't have noticed. But it seems more and more important every day, in ways I can't really put into words, to make the best of the time we've got ( Read more... )

Abby would freely admit that she had not been the best company for anyone lately, since she was staring five years of being on an island away from the majority of her friends and family squarely in the face and it was an ugly face. However, she'd promised she would help Neil with his Thanksgiving Feast at the Winchester, and she kept her promises. She made enough biscuits to build a small retaining wall and stacked them all pyramidally on a platter, then took it over to the Winchester and carefully set them down on the tables, which were if not literally groaning, figuratively doing so.

Once that was done, she started looking at who was there and what they'd brought, trying to remember to be happy and thankful. She was going to enjoy Thanksgiving with her Island friends and family if it killed her, dangit.

"i wANT to hoLD your hAND," Delirium said smiling cheerily, bouncing up to Abby and holding her hand out for her to take. Delirium for once was over dressed she'd kind of misunderstood. Family dinners and meetings tended to be very formal things with the Endless and Del had dressed to the nines. "aND THen i can Be thanKFUL for hAND gropiNG. no oNE WANts to groPE Me anyMORe it makES me sad. oH, i was goinG to make biRD AND gravy FLAVoured ice cReam but thEN i thouGHt peopLE WOULdn't Like that so i MADe vaniLLA. thAT GOes with pie, righT?"

Abby immediately put her hand out for Del to hold, of course, since holding hands was a good thing especially when Del was bouncy and happy like this. She looked overdressed but good in her very Delirium-like way.

"Vanilla goes very well with pie. I'm sure everyone will like it," she assured her favorite Endless.

Delirium grinned, bouncing on her toes as she threaded her fingers through Abby's. Del might not have been able to convince Abby to have sex with her (yet), she could always persuade her for a good hand holding. And Del loved physical contact, it was the one thing humans tended to get right.

"eXCEPT Meat piE but i doN'T THink they ARe makinG mEAT pie JUST normaL SweeT TYpe pie." Delirium said smiling when Abby reassured her. Sometimes she worried she wasn't doing Humanity right but most people usually told her when she was going wrong. Especially when she was going wrong and naked. "We doN'T Do this, famiLY GET togethERS AND CeLebrationS. weLL, we do But iT ALways meanS trouBLE AND Desire killed mY bUTTErfLy LAst timE we had oNE and i wasn'T happy. thiS makES me hapPY."

Delirium sort of felt out of place, well not out of place but very overdressed which was rather unusual for her. Del tended to wear very little unless it was for very serious family meetings and even then it tended to be minus a pair of trousers or very form fitting. Today Del had dressed to the nines; boots, big hair, her family necklace with each of their sigils balanced perfectly on it, a rather full dress and her best fishnet body stocking. She had dressed for her family not for her island one ( ... )

Trixa skirted the edges of the party, nodding, smiling, being pleasant, but she wasn't fully certain why she'd shown. All the Winchester employees had been invited, but she still felt like she was distinctly outside of whatever social circle was represented here. Still, all awkwardness aside, there was a... comfort in the ritual. There were some similarities with home, after all, there was a huge amount of food... and she hadn't had to cook one damn bit of it.

It made her smile a little. And remind herself that she needed to leave before people started talking about the dishes. But there was no Leo, and from time to time, her smile would fade a little as she reminded herself, once again, that he was better off not here.

Occasionally taking a sip from a flask she'd brought, she sat off to the side, an empty plate of food casually pushed away and she watched the crowd - wondering if she was going to be stuck here long enough for this to feel completely normal.

Sarah still feels awkward being there, but she also feels that not showing up would look stranger and so she's come. She does still gravitate to the side and to familiar faces, simply because it's easier. "I feel like I should be carrying plates," she admits to Trixa with a rueful half-smile. "Bad habits die hard."

"Care for a drink?"

Trixa motioned back behind her, willing to play bartender for a bit.

"I could probably use a couple," she agrees. The fact that it's Thanksgiving slipped her mind until she came to work and found the party instead. "Did you celebrate this back where you're from?"

By the time Dean was done, he was carrying about ten extra pounds in his belly and waddling, fighting the combined effects of too much food and one too many beers as he made his way to the bar for another.

"Last one," he promised no one in particular. "And then we go back for more pie."

"Dude, if you puke on my fuckin' floor, there's no way I'm cleanin' it up," I say, biting back a smirk while I watch him waddle toward me from my place leaning against the bar, beer number whatever in my hand.

"If I do, I get to start eating all over again," Dean replied, taking two tries to get his butt up on the stool. He wobbled there for a moment, hand perched ginger against his belly, then relaxed. "Sounds like the best case scenario to me."

"Do it out back in the fuckin' bushes, then," I say, reaching out a hand to help steady him and pressing my lips together against a burst of laughter.

He doesn't know why he's here. He's only just accepted that he doesn't have to steal from the Winchester pantries, that he can walk right up to the bar and order whatever he wants, pretty much any time he wants, and now the place is even more full than usual, and everybody's...everybody's so damn happy. Not jumping up and down, screaming their heads off happy, but quiet happy. Content. At peace.

Jason doesn't really know what to do with it, and he works on finishing his food quickly, tucked about as far back into his booth as a kid his size can be.

So dude who got her out of the cage owns a bar, making him a lifesaver several times over: Kim could have stayed at the compound tonight, especially when she saw the place packed and apparently done up for that American holiday with the turkey and shit, but she kind of doesn't care. She needed the walk, and now she needs to find somewhere to sit, away from the happy families and friends of families so she can at least benefit from the great food.

She's almost sat down when she notices the kid up against the wall, eating like someone's coming around to take it all back. "Do you mind if I sit here," she asks, not really picking her plate up again, "because I'm pretty much going to sit here."

Jason looks up in surprise, a quick glance around the room telling him that yeah, across from him is one of the few open seats left, but that doesn't mean he's thrilled to offer it. Or not offer, as the case may be.

"Then sit here," he says and picks up his fork again.

"Yeah sorry," she deadpans, watching him from under her bangs. Somehow she keeps finding the most attractive, asinine guys to sit across from, and today she doesn't even have the option of moving somewhere else. "Here bridge troll," she says, picking up a piece of cornbread from her plate and transferring it to his, "consider your toll paid."
