After a moment, she added: "My name is Riza Hawkeye." It was a small concession of trust.

Riza arched an eyebrow. After everything she had been through, his story wasn't even that surprisingly. She wondered briefly what normalcy felt like.

"I take it that's not the end of the story," she said.

Now that was getting strange, even for Riza. She had never been religious, had never believed in a life after death. Perhaps it existed. Perhaps it didn't. She had always preferred to focus on the world she was in and the life she had now.

"You were offered a second life?" she asked, her tone surprised.

Riza started to shake her head, but stopped as pain shot through her entire body. It was still difficult for her to comprehend, much less believe.

She glanced around her, doing her best to take in the people, the buildings, and any possible exits.

"Is this the Compound?" she asked.

She didn't like the sound of that, but there was nothing she could do about it at the moment. She could feel herself start to fade, the blood loss taking its toll. She needed a doctor.

"How much farther to the clinic?"

Riza bowed her head slightly -- very slightly -- in response.

"Thank you," she said and, swallowing an irrational bout of fear, walked through the door.
