"Not to offend you, but I have a hard time trusting anything that's not human," Riza said coolly. "If you have a story, I'd like to know it before we get much farther."
After a moment, she added: "My name is Riza Hawkeye." It was a small concession of trust.
Now that was getting strange, even for Riza. She had never been religious, had never believed in a life after death. Perhaps it existed. Perhaps it didn't. She had always preferred to focus on the world she was in and the life she had now.
"You were offered a second life?" she asked, her tone surprised.
She didn't like the sound of that, but there was nothing she could do about it at the moment. She could feel herself start to fade, the blood loss taking its toll. She needed a doctor.
