sugar and spice and everything nice

Fitch Cooper was far from impressed by the Island latest prank. It was one thing to be teased as a kid about being a mama's boy and a little girl when the teasing got to be too much and he started crying, and it was a completely different thing to actually be stuck walking around as a little girl.

Different and wrong. On so many levels ( Read more... )

After a day spent inside, Danica had been teaching herself to control her anxiety and now it was time to put it into practice. The stress of never knowing who she was speaking to, including someone in her own body, had frayed her nerves tenfold, and so she left with her head bent, hurrying past the people so she didn't have to stop and chat.

Three minutes later she was struggling for breath, her heart pounding, her stomach churning, her forehead sticky with sweat. Trees rose up around her and she swore she could hear the roar of a dinosaur close by. Shaking hands held her head as she ran, too disorientated to make it back to the Compound. The little girl outside a building looked harmless through bleary eyes, so Danica headed straight for her, choking back a sob, humiliation topping it off. At least a little girl would be easy to shut up when Danica got her own body back.

"--eyes and ears and mouth and nose
heeeeaaad, shoulders, knees and toes, knees and to--oh..."

His singing cut off abruptly when he caught sight of the young woman clearly in some sort of distress running toward him. It was only when she uncovered he face that he realized he knew her. Or he knew her as well as he knew any of the women he'd met during that speed dating night. If nothing else, at least he did remember her name. "Cyd! Or probably not Cyd... Are you alright?"

If Danica could claw her way out of this body, she'd do it in a heartbeat. Running into the building, she didn't stop to answer the girl's question, since it was fairly obvious that she wasn't alright. And she definitely wasn't "Cyd" (what sort of a name was that, anyway?) either.

Once inside, she doubled-over and sucked in some air, tears pricking her eyes and starting to roll down her cheeks. Danica felt so small and overwhelmed and she hated it, she hated all of it.

"I'll take that as a no?" He said quietly as he followed her inside. "Did you see something out there? Did it have claws?!"

Maybe it was the thing that had attacked Danica and he'd have another awesome case soon. Of all the times to be stuck in a little girl's body! He'd probably need to stand on something in order to stitch anyone up properly.

"Dr. Cooper, Dr. Cooper, I've been mauled!" Felix cried out, clutching one arm as he came barreling through the jungle, right past the little girl sitting outside and into the empty clinic. "Hello?" he called, whirling around, panic settling in instantly. Surely something like a little island tomfoolery wouldn't interfere with something as crucial as the clinic schedules, right? This was an emergency!

"Really?!" Coop hopped to his feet and scrambled inside after him. He could sulk some more after the potentially awesome mauling case. "You're not just saying that to make me feel better?" Because that was just mean and would have actually made him feel a whole lot worse.

"I am Dr. Cooper. See?" He pointed down at his ID badge. "Ignore the picture. So! Mauled?"

"Little girl, this is no time to be playing games!" Felix exclaimed, still clutching at his arm, and it was admittedly mostly just his panic that prevented him from seeing what was right in front of his face. "This is a medical emergency, I need a real doctor!"

"I'm not playing any games! If I were I wouldn't be as bored out of my mind as I have been just sitting here, waiting for someone to stop in." If he added a frustrated stop of his foot then that was entirely the body's doing, not his own. "The island is playing games, kicking people out of their bodies and sticking them in others. This one's not mine, but it's me in here! Coop!"
