Unfortunately, it was not the legacy he'd always dreamed of leaving behind. His name forever etched in the history books, immortalizing him for generations and generations to come. Gaius Baltar, the savior of men. Humble, brilliant, and let us not forget, devastatingly handsome... Reputation tarnished by circumstances outside his control, banished ( Read more... )

Sometimes, the club attracted creepers. Which is especially stupid as you can just go in and watch the girls get naked but there you go. Rachel is in the middle of adjusting her red, spangly bra and matching bottom when she hears a frankly girlish yelp and decides to investigate. Some pervert probably fell out of a tree and unless he's going to magically provide with some blow and zero consequences, she is not in the mood.

"Dude, what the hell are you doing?" she demands, peering down at some vaguely familiar looking guy. Definitely a creeper.

"Frakking up a simple installation, by the look of things," he said almost cheerfully, bending down to retrieve his lost pliers.

"I apologize. Have I..." his brow arched as his eyes flickered briefly over her, "interrupted something?"

"Going to work," she murmurs, raising an eyebrow. "Hey do I know you? You look totally familiar. I mean, in an I've met you kind of way. Was I high? Or drunk? It's likely."

"You were most certainly feeling the effects of something rather potent," he confirmed, "And newly arrived. I'm Gaius Baltar, and you're... Rachel, if memory serves."

It was luck that he remembered her. Even when it came to pretty girls, he was absolute rubbish with names.

At first Sharon thought the screech was a bird, but when she'd made it past the trees and foliage she saw it was none other than Galactica's former resident scientist. She came to a stop, breathing hard from the jog.

"Wow, Gaius, that scream almost rivaled Hera's," she said, grinning in what was almost real and actual glee.

Almost. It had been a rough month.

"Ah, thank you. Just what I wanted to hear," he said, returning her grin with a wry one of his own.

"You know, you shouldn't mock. You have no idea, I could be in a ghastly amount of pain."

"You're under the assumption that would stop me from mocking you," Sharon said, walking over to get a closer look at what Gaius was up to.

"So what's this?"

"How silly of me," he drawled, retrieving his fallen pliers and swinging the door open wider on the control box so she could have a look.

"They're a system of simple radios we've been installing through the island, all linked up to a base station in the IPD office. It's not exactly practical to rely on patrols in the event of an emergency."

Usually, the birds drift into that sort of ambiance, not at all silent, but their chirps and calls blending in to the sounds of the jungle, the odd shrill cry sounding out occasionally. Except this particular cry was definitely human, the man looking familiar as she pushed through the clearing to find him leaning against one of the call boxes, figuring he must have got a nasty shock, she's managed that more times than she'd like to admit.

"You okay?" She asked, sounding concerned though he looked for the most part alright. Much worse things could happen from a proper shock and he was breathing and standing; the important things. He looked familiar too, though she was sure they'd not properly met. "They'll turn on ya' sometimes." She added a little ruefully as though getting a shock was akin to getting a nip from a faithful pet, picking up the pliers as she stepped closer.

"Just being clumsy," she said with a rueful smile, flexing the tingling from his fingers and managing to look his special brand of both amused and scatterbrained.

"I must admit, wiring was never my forte. I'm Gaius Baltar, I don't believe we've met."

"The real innards are always th'tricky part. Dangerous too." Kaylee agreed, though she liked to think she had a bit of a talent it was a lot more difficult and delicate than fitting the various parts in place.

"Kaylee Frye-" She offered a hand to shake, smile widening, he must've been working on the call boxes too, hence why he was standing here with one opened all up. "I ain't tryin' t' tread on any toes here, but I'm happy t'help if this thing is actin' up so. Got th' one down in Summerfell workin' shiny just the other day." She assured cheerily.

"No, of course. Be my guest," Gaius said, stepping aside, always one to let someone else do his dirty work.

"You're the mechanic from the ship crashed down on the beach, aren't you? I've heard about you."
