He was getting more steady on his feet every day, and when she set him down in the rec room, he took off at a wobbly run, letting out a rare squeal of laughter and heading toward the excitement of the kitchen. She followed after, like a good mother. She was still learning what a good mother was, just as he was still learning what was around every new corner.
"You're baking," she said, a wry smile flickering across her face. Baking must mean the morning sickness was gone. Or at least on holiday, for now.
