There were times that Charlie was sure Tonks might just murder him in his sleep. He'd been gone for days, trekking through dinosaur territory. Mostly he'd just been watching. Mostly. It seemed every time he went, he encountered new dinos. They were brilliant. Between his trips and the crazy thrills he and Bill got up to, Charlie didn't see how ( Read more... )

"You're going to turn into a cookie if you carry on eating so many of them," Bill said with a grin and a chuckle, sweeping Teddy up into his arms. "If it's possible to have a cookie Patronus, I'm sure you'd manage it."

"And that's the truth," Charlie agreed. "Some days it seems like that's all he says. That and 'more'. See, this one's good. She doesn't say much of anything."

The way the baby slept in the crook of Charlie's large, scarred arm, it was clear why she was quiet. She slept like she'd not had a chance to nap in days. Charlie'd never met a baby who slept so hard. That friend of Tonks's, the one who had her boy on the same day...that kid was rarely quiet at all.

Teddy squirmed in Bill's arms. "Down!" he said, and Bill pressed a kiss to the boy's forehead before setting him back on the floor so he could get back to the important business of playing.

"Give her some time," he replied to Charlie, grinning. "Before you know it she'll be as talkative as Ginny."

"Oi, don't say things like that," he replied with a shake of his head but with a smile so sweet it almost hurt.

"She's getting big, yeah? I think My arm's going to fall off from holding her, but I don't dare put her down. I always wake her up when I try to lay her down...and then Tonks gives me this look like I ought to have known better."

Coraline looked at the biscuit in her hand and then at the small boy.

"Are you allowed a cookie? Have you done all your homework and chores or are you too little? I don't remember being that little, well young. I mean, I remember being small but now I'm tall. I'm not going to stop growing until I'm tall as Bill. Then it'll be easy to kiss him," Coraline said, considering Mister Lupin's little boy before offering him half of her cookie. Coraline looked slightly guilty when she realised the older man was looking at her. "Um, we're not doing anything cookie related at all. We're discussing the economic climate."

"I can see that," he replied, grinning at the girl. "You must be Coraline. Go ahead, he can have it."

Coraline was the only one he could think she might be, what with the mention of kissing Bill. Now that he'd met her, his older brother was never going to hear the end of Charlie's opinion of the future sister in law. She looked to be...young. Not a first year, but still far too young for the likes of Bill.

"It's a very fascinating subject," Coraline said seriously before grinning at Teddy and giving him the object of his attention. "I must be Coraline? I could be a Wendy you know or a George. I think I'd make a very fascinating George. Although I don't think there should be two George Weasley's, one is quite enough."

Yeah, that cinched it.

"Maybe, but you"re not. Bill's told me about you," he said, nodding with certainty. "No one else wants to kiss him."

Which wasn't true and had never been true. Plenty of people wanted to kiss Bill. Almost as many as wanted to kiss Charlie.
