It's hard not to feel like she's intruding on something, but Terry'd only meant to pass through the playground on her way around to the back of the compound. Dick's always been pleasant enough to her, and she gives him an apologetic smile.

"Sorry, I was just passin' by," she explains.

"Hey," Dick calls quietly underneath Bess's barking. "Morgan, tell Bess it's okay, Terry's a friend."

Before Morgan can, Dick's moving away, drawing Terry off to talk to her about Monet, with a quiet nod and that sorrow-burnished smile. "It's fine, Terry, we're just trading news. Speaking of which..."

Terry doesn't expect Dick to leave his conversation for her, and she's sure whatever he has to say, she doesn't think she wants to hear.

She gives him an expectant look. "News?"

They don't know each other very well, not well enough for him to know how she'll take the news but it has to be done. He meets her gaze, blue eyes softening both on her account and his own.

"It's about Monet. She's...gone."

He'd been thinking too much. All month, in fact, despite the fact that he would have liked to take the easy route and blamed Vala's baby for making him realize just how real Carolyn's--how real his child was. He knew how real it was. He'd accepted that...and yet. It seemed like it was still so far off, but that wasn't true, was it? She was already half way. More than, if he counted correctly.

His father already made his vote on the matter perfectly clear. Really. He was just...stalling. He was stalling, and he knew perfectly well that stalling was the worst thing he could do here. Not that it would be any better if he didn't, and Carolyn vanished with the infant anyway.

He was too lost in his thoughts to really pay attention to where he was going--there wasn't really anything he needed to worry about on the island--but the sudden barking snapped his attention to the group nearby. "Morgan?"

"Timothy, Dick, you will excuse me?" Morgan asked, even before Cameron had spoken.

She detached from their small group, Bess at her heels, sword left with Dick and a small, pleasant smile shaping her lips. When she had moved a small distance from her friends, she stopped and waited for Cameron to join her, and when he had, she greeted him with a small nod of acknowledgment. "Hello, Cameron."

Cameron couldn't help a quizzical look at the dog following Morgan. In his time with her, he hadn't really pegged her as a dog kind of woman. She'd seemed more cat, if anything.

Things always changed, though, didn't they?

He hadn't exactly sought Morgan out, but now that he'd found her, it seemed almost as if he should have. There were few he would have trusted more to speak to. At her indication, he chose a decently spot to sit at, and offered a slim smile. "Hey."

He didn't actually have anything planned to say. Still. He could manage conversations without working out what to say ahead of time...and often enough his plans tended to fail when talking to Morgan anyway.

He pointed toward the dog. "What's its name?"

Bess sat a solid distance away from Cameron, watching warily and offering periodic low barks. Morgan glanced over her shoulder at the dog and frowned, unsure what could be the cause of her distress. "Hush, love," Morgan said quietly and held out her palm. Bess trotted obediently to her, pushing the ruff of fur around her neck under Morgan's hand.

"This is Bess. Bess, this is Cameron." Harry had introduced her to Bess as though she would understand and so Morgan would do the same. "Are you well?" she asked, since it had been some time since they last spoke.

Jill didn't look like she was doing well at all. She'd stopped when they'd all turned, and sucked in a breath for just a second before she forced a smile, smoothing back her hair as she stood up a little straighter. "Hullo," she said quietly, her fingers tangling in the hem of her jumper.

Her eyes sought Tim's, brows rising in a silent question. She couldn't see Dick's hand - didn't even know if blokes did that sort of thing when they got married with the rings and all - so she supposed that she'd have to ask.

Deep in the heart of her, it hurt that Tim was smiling, that they were laughing. She felt so empty, but Tim was really the only person she had left, and far be it from her to rain down on his parade.

He saw the conflict in her and gave her a small nod and, with a squeeze of Dick's hand for warning, stepped out of the little group to draw Jill in and apart from the others for a hug and a quiet word before turning her loose. Morgan and Dick knew that Jill had lost Peter so he didn't need to perform a similar balancing act there. They would simply adjust. "Hey, Jill. How are you doing?"

"I'm alright," she said quietly, hugging him as tight as she could for just a moment, before looking up at him, and then at Dick over his shoulder. "Did you ask him, then?" She smoothed Tim's hair out of pure reflex - it still stood up all over the place.

It was a habit that she'd gotten into with Peter - that bit of a touch that was more motherly then anything, but it didn't stop her from doing it. "How're you holding up?"

Kon couldn't help but blush, just a little, when he saw Morgan, but he felt the need for familiar company when he found an empty room where Lois used to be. And he couldn't get more familiar than Tim, which was probably saying something about them both.

They all turned to look at him in sync, so he held his hands up and grinned. "I didn't do it." He paused a beat. "What was it that I didn't do?"

Tim grinned back, that fast quick smile that sort of looked like he was just trying it out for the first time. "That's the wrong question, Kon. Unless you did something wrong. In which case, I suggest running."

"I imagine I could find something you didn't do," Morgan answered, mouth curling and tipping wry. He had not, for example, in common parlance, 'done' her, thanks to the other two men standing here. Perhaps she ought to feel embarrassment, but she did not. She merely missed Harry and found comfort in the presence of her friends. "Hello, Kon."

It was rare that Dick played the straight man to Tim, let alone Morgan. Dick smiled and tipped his chin to Bess. "Ask the dog. She's your accuser." Okay, so maybe it was still rare.
